Edit at 12:53 a.m.: did some digging and there's no evidence that Megan Cassella has said this. Although it's still funny but might be false quoting/meme.
However. She did piss him off with this.
A White House press briefing witnessed a tense exchange when CNBC's Megan Cassella questioned President Trump about the 'Taco trade,' a Wall
Brendan Carr was asked on CNBC if he "turned the FCC into a political commission."
FCC Chair Brendan Carr accused Democrats of âweaponizingâ the Federal Communications Commission while appearing Monday on CNBCâs âSquawk on the Street.â
Carr made the remark after host Sara Eisen asked him if he would be OK if Democrats gain power over the agency if a Democratic president is elected. She also questioned what Carrâs reaction would be if Democrats âassert the [same] powerâ and enforcement on conservative media.
âWell, Democrats were in charge of the FCC in the Biden era. They claimed far more sweeping powers than Iâm suggesting, and for overtly partisan political reasons unlike the steps that weâre taking,â Carr said. âSo for instance, during the Biden years, they teed up potentially not renewing a Fox broadcast TV license for content on Fox News Cable.â
âThere were Democrat Senators, including Sen. [Ed] Markey that previously, even before Biden, wrote to the FCC to ask them to investigate a perceived conservative broadcast for Sinclair [Broadcast Group],â he continued. âWhen the Biden FCC came in, they didnât renew almost a single license for Sinclair the entire time â that was unprecedented.âÂ
Dana Carvey's parody of The Charles Grodin Show is an absolute classic.

The next time a MAGA person shouts "fake news" at you, you might want to remind them that back in 2016 Donald Trump confessed to 60 Minutes' Lesley Stahl that he attacks the press so that "no one will believe" the "negative stories" about him that they report. Consequently, I thought I'd reblog this old story about what he said, just to remind people.
President Donald Trump told the veteran journalist Lesley Stahl of the CBS program â60 Minutesâ that he bashes the press to âdemeanâ and âdiscreditâ reporters so that the public will not believe ânegative storiesâ about him, Stahl said. [...] Stahl said she and her boss met with Trump at his office in Trump Tower in Manhattan after the 2016 election in advance of a recorded sit-down interview for â60 Minutes. âAt one point, he started to attack the press,â Stahl said. âThere were no cameras in there.â âI said, âYou know, this is getting tired. Why are you doing it over and over? Itâs boring and itâs time to end that. You know, youâve won ... why do you keep hammering at this?ââ Stahl recalled. âAnd he said: âYou know why I do it? I do it to discredit you all and demean you all so that when you write negative stories about me no one will believe you.ââ [color emphasis added]

Alex Samuels at Daily Kos:
During a wide-ranging interview on CNBC Thursday, Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr hinted that Jimmy Kimmelâs show might not be the last casualty in President Donald Trumpâs ongoing war on the media and the First Amendment. Host Carl Quintanilla asked Carr whether the FCC shares Trumpâs desire for NBC to take Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers off the air next. While Carr said that he doesnât speak for the president, he suggested more media upheaval could be on the horizon.Â
âOur goal and our obligation is to make sure broadcasters are serving the public interest,â he said. âWeâre in the midst of a massive shift in dynamics in the media ecosystem for lots of reasons, including the permission structure that President Trumpâs election has provided. I would simply say weâre not done yet with seeing the consequences of that shift.â Co-host David Faber then pressed him on what âweâre not done yetâ means.Â
âWill you only be pleased when none of these comedians have a show on broadcast television?â he asked. âItâs not about any particular show or any particular person,â Carr replied.â Weâre in the midst of a very disruptive moment right now. I just frankly expect that weâre gonna continue to see changes in the media ecosystem.â The media landscape has indeed shifted dramatically. Once dominated by critics of Trump, itâs now increasingly shapedâor pressuredâby forces aligned with the White House. Outlets that have run coverage deemed âunfairâ by Trump and his allies have been sued, investigated, or otherwise targeted.
Appearing on CNBCâs Squawk On The Street yesterday, FCC Chair Brendan Carr hints that the benching of Jimmy Kimmel isnât the last Trumpian attack on the free press and free speech.
