When things start to turn normal at the Lighthouse, again, when May comes back, without Coulson, when explanations go around of the horrible things he did, a decision is made.
Leopold Fitz is dangerous.
He agrees. He can’t trust himself, can’t trust the voices in his head, and he’s dangerous to be around. He can’t tell what’s real from what isn’t, and it makes his head spin.
When the decision is made that he shouldn’t be locked up constantly, he doesn’t actually want to leave his cell at first. He doesn’t want to risk it. The door to his cell is locked at night, but he’s allowed to be around during the day, but no one is to be left alone with him, no exceptions.
It takes Fitz two days to finally get up and walk out of his cell when the door’s unlocked. May is constantly on guard around him, sharp eyes watching his every move. Anything that can be used as a weapon - pens, knives, scissors - is hidden whenever he goes anywhere, but Fitz doesn’t go near them anyways.
Three days, and Fitz finally speaks, properly. Deke is walking with him towards the canteen, and out of the corner of his eyes, he sees her. Daisy. His best friend. The person that stood by his side when he changed, and who he protected, and- the person he tortured.
She will never forgive him, and she said so herself, and Fitz... He knows he doesn’t deserve to be forgiven, not for what he’s done. Still, though, he speaks up. His hands tremble at his sides as he talks, and he stares at the ground.
“D-Daisy?” he asks. “Can... I know... I-I can... Can we- er... Can I talk... with you? Just... just talk. I-I... I’ll stay on-on the other side of...” He points to where he’s standing, across the from her. “I just wanna talk...”
