Preview for Sing me home
I wanted to do a few things that bring me joy in 2025 (to fight the overwhelming dread that is the daily assault on our democracy). One of those things is this being more active in this fandom. I haven't written anything since 2022 and @spopbigbang gave me the inspiration to write again. I wrote a silly and entertaining one shot that I hope you enjoy. I am excited to be partnering with @mooonchan to bring a moment from the fic to light! We'll be posting "she’s a ten but she dating you without your knowledge" on May 15th. This AU will answer the question, how far will you go to get out of being set up by your friends and how long does a camp crush last. Enjoy the little preview below: *** “Sure, yep, I’m dating someone behind your back.” Adora was clearly being sarcastic. She had no ability to lie. If she was seeing someone, Glimmer and Bow would be one the very first people to know. But Glimmer didn’t seem to read that she wasn’t being serious.

“Wait, who?!”
Adora rolled her eyes.
“It all makes sense! Why else would you be so weird about being set up?”
“Is weird your new favorite word?”
Glimmer put her hand on Adora’s shoulder, her posture contrite. “You can tell us, Dor. Are you seeing someone? It’s okay, I won’t be upset. I get it, new relationships can be tricky. I was afraid to tell anyone when Bow and I started dating.”
Adora tried not to make a face. Everyone knew when the two of them started dating. They’d been circling each other for months, each complaining to Adora about their unrequited crush. The morning after they finally hooked up, the whole coffee shop knew, even their customers. But Adora wasn’t going to correct her. Glimmer had been oblivious then and continued to be, even now. Maybe it was easier to tell Glimmer what she wanted to hear.
“Okay fine. Yep. I’m dating someone. It’s new. I wasn’t ready to talk to you about it.” Adora twirled her hair nervously, was Glimmer actually buying this!? She looked away and locked eyes with Bow. He was fluent in sarcasm and he could read her very easily. He squinted his eyebrows in disbelief. Was she busted already? She looked back at Glimmer who was clapping and jumping up and down, squealing with excitement. “Wait, where did you meet her? What’s her name? Tell us everything.”
“Uh.” Fuck. “I met her at the city writers workshop I’ve been driving to.” That was good. Thaymor was far. Lots of reasons why someone she met two towns over wouldn’t be around.
“Aaaand. What’s her name!”
“Her name, ah…” Adora panicked. Name. What was her name? She looked out the window, knowing stalling on this answer would absolutely give this farce away. “Her name is Catra.”
