I love getting tagged in stuff so this is really exciting for me xD
You put your music on shuffle and write down the first ten songs that come on and then tag ten people of your choice. I was tagged by the lovely janaespecter14!
1. You Are My Lucky Star from the Singing in the Rain soundtrack
(aka my favourite movie of all time! Btw, be prepared for a lot of show tunes…)
2. Where Do Broken Hearts Go by One Direction
(Don't judge me, I think they're adorable)
3. Do You Hear the People Sing by the Les Misérables Original London Cast
4. Cabaret by Natasha Richardson
(I swear I do have songs other then show tunes on my iPod)
5. Radioactive by Imagine Dragons
(See? Such a good song!)
6. The Ultimate Medley with Apologies to Andrew Lloyd Webber by Sierra Boggess
(From her Live at 54 Below album. She's a goddess, and this manages to be amazing and hilarious at the same time!!)
7. The Point Of No Return/Down Once More by Colm Wilkinson and Rebecca Caine
(Annnnd we're back. The original Canadian cast, I was obsessed with that CD when I was younger)
8. February Air by Lights
(She's amazing. That is all.)
9. My Eyes from Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
(Also amazing. And technically another show tune… I'm obsessed)
10. Surfin USA by the Beach Boys
(Classic!!)

TRASHHHHHHHH YOUR URL IS ONCE AGAIN CHANGED FRIEND. WHAT THE FUCK

Hi, I'm a junior in high school and I'm in band. I noticed that you go to Furman (don't worry, I was scrolling through the Furman tag). I'm completely in love with everything about Furman and I am planning on studying music there (I might double major). I also love marching band, so I will definitely be involved with that. I have been to a few concerts this year and met with Dr. Hicken. I was wondering if you could give me some extra advice on how to get accepted into the music program :)
Oh man i might not be the right person to ask since I'm a non-major in the program and I'm not a music scholarship. But I might be able to direct you to someone who might be to give you some more insight to how to get accepted into the music program (generally everyone who auditions gets accepted, the difference might be just with how much scholarship money you would receive) I have a 2 friends who are in the music department as majors with scholarship on tumblr that you could contact who I'm sure would be more than happy to talk to you about the audition process and such. their URLS are akacara and sherlockbringthejamakacara is a horn player who's in all the ensembles here including marching band and on a music scholarship and sherlockbringthejam is a vocal person who is also on a music scholarship. I will say it's good to communicate with members of the department early on, and speaking with Dr. Hicken is a great start. I'd advise keeping in touch and going to as many open events that the Furman Bands program hosts during the year (the marching band has a high school day when students are invited to come spend the day with us. I guess the key is a good audition and a solid application to just Furman itself. I'm not sure what instrument you play, but possibly send an email to the professor who teaches lessons on your instrument and talk to them a bit about where you are in the process of applying and they should be able to give you some pointers in the right direction. Im glad you're interested in Furman! Especially the music department since it's really wonderful!
