Derwent and faber-castle colours pencils 10-15hours on white paper.

My first fanart to one of my Sherlock fictions, and so far one of my better ones. I really want to capture the complete trust between these two friends, which I hope I've done. In this instalment of my story 'It takes John Watson to save your life' John and Sherlock are trapped in a lift by a murderer who has managed to poison Sherlock with a neurotoxin. As the detective's diaphragm becomes paralysed, he stops breathing. John has to keep him alive while awaiting more medical help and so is forced to intubate him to keep him breathing.

Doctor John bent down lower now, sitting briefly on the small stool beside the bed, he grasped his friend's hand, now complete with an intravenous line and pulse oximetry on his index finger. Sherlock's eyes slid weakly sideways, listening carefully to John's words.

"You've got a nasty bleed in your wound. The doctors are too busy with Lestrade so I've got to help you out. I know you'll probably be much happier with this. But we are going to have to sedate you, it's going to be too painful."

"No." he whispered sluggishly, "no sedation."

"Not negotiable I'm afraid."

Meltdown

Sherlock’s episode in TFP looked a lot like an autistic meltdown - at least from my (ASD) POV.  And I love how John handled it... and how Mycroft gave him some space.
