I finished this watercolor wreath last night using my new @jazperstardust watercolors. I love the soft earthy feel they give. I think my favorite color is his sepia. A delicious brown with hints of violet/ mauve undertones. Mixes beautifully with his other colors. . As I sat back and looked at this finished wreath it made me realize inside that I am aching for some softness in my life. Some easy gentleness, something that feels like a whisper. Hmmm what does that feel like exactly? The 2 stones seen in this photo are from my trip to RI this summer. I collected, among other things some beautiful rocks from the ocean. These rocks are soft, when I hold them they are smooth to the touch, brushed by Mother Nature and her lulling waves. Hints of weathering over time, yet still so beautiful. . May we all be brushed by the gentle waves of life that soften us not make us harder, make us more compassionate and loving to those around us. Practicing some shading and highlights with leaves as well as layering. A little bit of a self care day. Made some of my favorite bath salts, taking sometime to read one of my favorite magazines and treated myself to a new oracle deck. When you lose your mom things seem so different in life, everything is a bit emptier, some days you’re up and others are weighted so heavy you feel you might fall over. I try to be present but my heart keeps pulling me back. I know so many have wanted me to return to social media and sharing my art. Many of you have been cheering me on. Honestly I have tried but my heart’s just not in it right now. I will be ok, but for now I am just accepting that I’m not really. Getting back into my art. It’s been quite sometime since I’ve posted much at all. June 4th I lost my mom. It came quite suddenly although she has had Alzheimer’s for quite sometime. My heart is still broke and this July 4th it was a full month since she passed. It’s hard to believe, it feels so surreal like at any moment I will wake up and it will all have been a bad dream. One minute I think I’m fine and the next I’m a mess. I guess this is what the grieving process is all about. I just haven’t felt much like being online or making art. Today was the first day I felt like picking up my brush. Far from done but just a glimmer of hope, I see the sadness in this ones eyes as if she’s saying yup I “get you”. Funny how our art tends to take on a life and voice of it’s own.
