i like that so many of the girls are playing the games to gain money for day to day life expenses. like it's a part time job. apparently they don't even receive much per game as you need to play several times to amount enough to "live frugally as a hikikomori in a country with low cost of living". in similar shows like squid game the characters usually have some sort of overarching goal as motivation, like a debt or a loved one in need. but yuuki and some others are just trying to pay rent, it's sad in a different way i think. yuuki said she was always low on money before she started and that the games gave her the security of knowing she could keep living on. she seems to be very depressed and isolated irl so maybe she feels that playing a death game once in a while is easier than keeping a normal job? idk but it'd be interesting if the anime really explored this a little bit more

Cannot get over what a visual masterclass this is already. Just astounding. Well done, DEEN. Another really good episode, except for leaving off on a cliffhanger which I guess is to be expected. Last week we had the benefit of the hour long premiere, I appreciate them taking their time with the games they’ve chosen to adapt this season rather than rushing through them.

I really like how this show is a social experiment on how people trust and work with others in life and death situations. It makes sense that Mishiro and the others didn’t take to Yuki immediately because realistically they don’t know her from a bum on the street and she does come off a little sus, BUT damn I wish they’d listen to her because you know it’s going to end awful for them. Deep down I think Yuki took it personally when Mishiro just wrote her off despite her experience in death games as well. That “fine, I’ll accept you as the leader” was full of venom lmao. Mishiro is gonna lead those girls to their death and she clearly don’t even really gaf about them because she left Kotoha even tho Yuki said she was alive.

I do still wanna see how they sign up for these games and what the world is like to make young girls this desperate for money, but I understand why they just go from game to game to get right into the action. It’s such a unique show so far.
