Here's the Harry Dresden shield bracelet I made for my brother for Christmas. Not technically "accurate" when you compare it to the comics and stuff, but I feel like it has the spirit of the Dresden bracelet. :-)
Finished up a comission tonight! A Shield Bracelet based on Harry's from The Dresden Files. Niobium and Steel in helm weave. I forgot how much I hate Steel somedays. But niobium was fun to play with!
Update on the shield bracelet.
Turns out I've gotten rings that are too small for the pattern I'm using. I'm going to need to get larger rings.
Harry Dresden inspired shield bracelet I commissioned a mutual friend from college to make for my fiancé months ago. I'm so excited it's done! It looks so freaking awesome! Dude needs to get a website so I can recommend you all to him. He's amazing. Hand made rivets! :D
I want to make a shield bracelet, like the one Harry Dresden uses, but the one in the tv show uses this talisman as the 'shields'.
From the site the talisman is sold at:
The biblical king Solomon established the Jewish secret doctrine of Kabbalah and his wisdom is the foundation of all western magic until today. 3000 years ago he wrote the magic book "Key of Solomon" - also this amulet is built according to these magic instructions. This amulet is divided by eight spokes which symbolize the infinite power of God. On the right side of this amulet the characters TR standing for the word Trisagion (= three times holy) can be seen. The diagonal spoke with an arrow at the one side bends like a vine on the other and thus symbolizes life and health. The horizontal spoke standing for the human powers of comprehension is crossed on the left side by three vertical lines. These three lines are a symbol for the Trinity which is effective as a divine power in the external material as well as the internal spiritual world. The letters A and M on top of the pendant mean Anno Mundi signifying as much as "since the beginning of the world". Hence, this amulet as a whole symbolizes that God in his threefold being of Father, Son and Holy Ghost watches over its wearer since his birth. This old amulet originates from the "Key of Solomon" - in medieval times this charm has been extended using Christian symbols. According to old beliefs this medieval fortune charm should make it much easier to get rid of bad habits, to overcome mental troubles and dark thoughts and to sustain health by defeating addictions of all kind. Among other things medieval knights of the 16th century wore this pendant not only as jewelry but also as an aid to achieve changes in their lives. This magic amulet therefore was very popular as a fortune charm.
Seeing as to how me and the Christian god don't really mesh well, I don't think--for me--that particular shield would be the best to use. I don't do metal work though, so making an actual metal shield is out of the question. I suppose I could collect a few pendants and such over the next few months, or I could make my own with clay I guess.
I don't know, any crafty witches out there have any ideas?
