Everything still hurt. He’d found Cas and gone straight back to their home. Had found that Cas had removed, and replaced his grace within just a few days, just before he’d been returned. He had nearly thrashed Cas for that alone, but he didn’t have the heart. The news of their daughter took Cas to his knees, he remembered. He had wanted to stay. Wanted to comfort his mate. But he had to eat. So, after assuring Cas that he was under the protection of an Archangel – Zack had released him, so he hoped for the best – Conner took to the forests behind the house.
The black panther darted through the trees at frightening speeds, searching desperately for a trail. He found the trail of a large, large buck, and his stomach rumbled hungrily. He started stalking through the trees, his tail flicking back and forth as he waited for the perfect time to strike. When suddenly, he felt like he wasn’t alone.
