WIP Intro: temporarily lnd

Rhys is a boy who tried to save everyone. Ren is a shapeshifter who doesn’t know what she is anymore. Gene is boy who keeps spiraling into deeper trouble. Cailie is a witch on the run from her family. Afisto is a boy who lived in lies. Caeden is an elf who just wanted to see the world. And their realities keep shattering. Additionally, Mezenel is there.

“Is something the matter, commander?” he asked carefully.

“No it’s-” a sigh escaped his lips, he leaned in closer to Rhys as his voice dropped to a breathy whisper. “Just be careful around the officer, she’s… she doesn’t like when things don’t go her way.”

Rhys furrowed his brows at the remark, he looked into Thatcher’s gaze, almost expecting him to burst in laughter, but he didn’t. Instead commander Thatcher just nodded a few times too much, as if to reassure himself before he began moving again.

The myths are fading. Only a few of the ancient stories are still whispered in hushed tones, deformed and nameless like Casics. New ones born and fading from memory, some surviving and thriving in their own legends like Felice, eager to see more of the world.

In that world, Sen is a simple human, with wishes and dreams, discovering myths by accident. Noe carries small empty bottles with him, chased by fears and nightmares.

After a bit of hesitation he knocked on the door, almost expecting it to fall apart. It didn’t, instead Gene whipped around, dagger in hand.

“Hello there, I suppose you saw my request?” the man- boy, spoke. He had a grin on his face as wind ruffled his sandy hair. He stood a comfortable enough distance away, though Gene kept the dagger in his grasp.

“Of course I saw it, just like any other thinking person, was the group expecting you armed to their teeth a part of your genius plan?” Gene spat out.

He looked like Afisto. Or, what Gene imagined Afisto to look like now.

“I promise,” Felice repeated. His eyes glistened in the light coming through the window, their gaze focused on Casics. Their face expressed surprise, Felice worried he might have startled them by grasping their hands, perhaps he was wrong about their feelings?

“I’m warning you,” their tone was gentle, they spoke slowly enough for Felice to see each letter form on their lips. “this… this isn’t the time for fun,” their gaze seemed to soften, their eyes observed Felice’s face carefully, looking for something but Felice was too stuck on their words to notice.

“Fun?” he repeated, Casics heard the hurt Felice didn’t manage to hold back. “Fun.” he repeated weakly.

why does it keep marking Casics’ pronouns as wrong i just wanted to write (ᗒᗣᗕ)՞

"Of course that was a lie, Afisto! You came there to kill me, do you really think I'd tell you the truth?"

"That's not true, I received a report so I had to question you-"

"You tried to find out if I could be executed, not about why I used magic against that guard," Hirath hissed.

"So you did use magic?" Afisto raised a brow.

"I never said I didn't, I said I didn't use it to seduce him," Hirath said with hurt in his voice.

"Why did you use it then?" Afisto asked.

"Why would I tell you?"

Afisto blinked, Hirath's gaze returned to the cold ground of the cell. The chains and shackles jingled as he shifted in hopes of being more comfortable or at least a little less cold. Afisto thought back to when he visited Vinni in her cell, shortly before her execution. He still wasn't sure whether the choices he made were the right ones, but he didn't want to think of her now. Not when he was with Hirath.

Felice stretched at his shrine, one of the few in that particular town, but he still cherished each person who stopped to pray or leave an offering, light the candles, or even a simple bow of the head in the shrine’s direction. He looked up at the clear sky above as he pondered upon whether he should head to another location, perhaps one of the bigger cities. He liked to blend within the mortals, pretend to be one of them and brighten a few days.

What pulled him out of his thoughts was a human walking by, desperately rubbing at his eyes for them to stop the tears and sobs. Amongst those, Felice heard something else.

“Please make it rain.” It rang in his head like the chime of a bell.

Felice glanced at the sky again, this time his nose scrunched up at the grey clouds. He outstretched his hand from under the shrine’s small roof to feel the first rain drops fall. He smiled at the feeling as he remembered a time when the rain would pass right through him.

He glanced up again at the same human staring at him. Felice tilted his head curiously at the surprised expression of the human, then a smile rested on his face. Another deed for a human, completed.

“I don’t think you should be sitting there,” the human spoke.

His smile dropped. Felice blinked in confusion at the human, then glanced around, although he was sure there wasn’t anyone else apart from him… Felice’s head snapped back to the human, eyes wide open. He jumped off and took a step to the side, the gaze of the human followed. In awe, Felice moved to the other side, eyes still focused on the human.

“Hi,” Felice finally said along with a wave of his hand.

“Hello,” the human replied.

Felice blinked again, amazed. “What’s your name?”

“Sen, what about you?” the human replied hesitantly, confused at his behaviour.

To say Socks burned the houses of aristocrats with sanguivoriphobia everyday would be a lie. It happened three times a month, at most, and though they preferred to burn them like a pyromaniac, they did from time to time choose a different form of destruction.
