shimaa, our friend in gaza, needs funds to keep the room that she & her disabled family members are staying in. this room is extremely important to them, because shimaa's grandmother has alzheimers and uses a wheelchair, and shimaa's 7 year old nephew is chronically ill with a kidney disease.
we need to raise $445 by december 1 in order to pay their rent on time.
you can see our past donation campaigns along with proof of donation. we have worked with shimaa extensively in the past and can vouch for her legitimacy; if you have any questions, please reach out.
all donations will be matched by our group until the goal is reached.
Help qquwq reach their goal by donating or sharing with your friends.
thank you for your generosity. we couldn't do this without you!
i'm making this post on behalf of @its2shimaa, a 22 year old graphic designer from gaza who is trying to support her family.
shimaa is offering simple graphic designs in exchange for donations to her currently stagnating campaign.
she can make designs for:
animals: you or your friends' pets, or just photos of your favorite animals in general!
people: yourself, your family, your friends, a favorite celebrity, or anyone else you want
fictional characters: if you have a chibi or png of your favorite character, she can create something for them too!
and more!
you can grab one of these lovely designs for as little as $5!
all you have to do is donate via gofundme or p@yp4l [email protected] (please leave a note that it is for shimaa so that i can set it aside).
send proof of your donation to shimaa via tumblr @its2shimaa, via twitter, or via whatsapp at +970 567 114 032. show her what photo you would like a design for, and you can get one of these great designs for yourself.
i hope we can all come together to support shimaa's work.
please reblog and share so her work can reach a wider audience. and once again, thank you all for your continued support!
hello everyone! we are excited to bring you this update!
for around two months, we have been fundraising for the materials to build tents/shelters for the influx of refugees in ahmed's camp. we split the campaign into five parts to shelter twenty families; you can see our campaign posts here (part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5).
thanks to your generous donations, ahmed's team has successfully built shelters for the newly displaced families in his refugee camp!
clearing the ground and setting up the tents:
these are not ready-made tents, as ready-made tents are quite expensive in gaza; instead, ahmed and his team built shelters out of cheaper plastic tarps. this is why we were able to shelter so many families with this!
detailing the interiors:
originally, we only intended to build the shelters; however, with everyone's generosity, we were also able to obtain new bedding as well! thank you so much to those of you who helped us surpass our original donation goal!
final results:
although we try to avoid identifying pictures for the sake of safety and privacy, if you would like additional proof of donation, send us a message! we would be happy to get you in contact with ahmed on whatsapp.
and finally, a huge thank you from shimaa and ahmed...
we are truly, endlessly grateful to everyone's generosity in making this possible. this wouldn't be possible without you.
(p.s. accounting & financing details beneath the cut! )
total amount raised:
campaign 1: $783 out of original $480 goal
campaign 2: $478 out of original $360 goal
campaign 3: $410 out of $410
campaign 4: $413 out of $410
campaign 5: $806 out of $410! wow! thank you so much!
this brings our total to a whopping $2890!!
money transfer:
we transferred the money in two batches. in the first batch, we did three transfers together: (1) the rent campaign for shimaa and ahmed's family to keep their current room (totalling $495 after one of our team member's personal donations), (2) campaign 1's amount, and (3) campaign 2's amount. here is the bank screenshot from ahmed's end, with a small bank fee taken from each.
in the second batch, we sent campaign 3, 4, and 5's amount all together, amounting in total to $1629:
thanks to everyone's generosity, shimaa @its2shimaa was able to secure two rooms to shelter herself and her family for the next 30 days, as well as purchase food and supplies!
more pictures of the living space as well as the physical bills she was able to withdraw from the bank. these will go towards providing for her family's food, medical supplies, and other daily necessities.
i'm still taking commissions via p@yp@l at [email protected] to help support shimaa and her family. this money can be transferred more quickly and with fewer fees than through the gofundme platform. however, you can also support shimaa at her gofundme campaign here.
once again, thank you to everyone who shared, donated, and made this possible!
last week, you all helped raise $690 for shimaa -- enough to cover rent for her family in october, as well as obtain extra supplies! this shelter has been super critical for shimaa's family because of their physical conditions. thank you, everyone, for making this possible.
bank transfer details:
here is a screenshot of the money that shimaa was able to withdraw. of the $690 sent to shimaa, $100 was taken as a transfer fee, so she was able to withdraw $590 total.
left: the original screenshot in arabic. i've censored the legal name of the person who helped wire the money directly.
middle: shimaa kindly edited the photo to explain in english what each line says and means.
right: the physical money that shimaa was able to withdraw, in the currency of israeli shekels.
rent is $400/month, so after paying rent, shimaa used the leftover money to buy extra supplies.
other supplies:
here are photos of the fresh vegetables shimaa was able to buy with the extra money, as well as the soap! as you all know, hygiene has become a big problem in gaza due to damaged infrastructure, so the soap will be extremely helpful in the coming days to keep clean and avoid the skin diseases spreading throughout the strip.
thank you all for your generosity!
every reblog and donation has truly made a difference. we really appreciate your help.
if you would like to help more, i've set up a p@yp4l campaign to help pay for shimaa's rent next month as well. since someone has already generously donated $20, this campaign will track the remaining $380.
Help qquwq reach their goal by donating or sharing with your friends.
once again, thank you for your support, and please do reblog & share -- you never know who this might reach!
