Every time I write “last post of the day”, I forget a key bike that needs attention. This Eclair is on ebay, making it’s appearance this morning. Another handsome, well maintained Lotus. All the Shimano Deore parts are there. Looks like the cockpit has undergone minor modification and the brake lever hoods have crumbled and been removed. Otherwise, just as Lotus intended it. A starting bid of $99 (totally reasonable) plus $100 to ship (not outrageous). Will update after the listing ends...
As I ran through the listing pics, I noticed the Wolf Cyclery sticker on the seat tube. I called immediately to see if they still had old Lotus brochures or catalogs. I’ve been doing this lately, hoping to dig up some old material. I’ve not had any luck yet (surprisingly, most shops don’t keep thirty year old paperwork). The guy from Wolf told me to check online-I assured him that I have thoroughly searched. Ah Lotus!
Another first for this site: Lotus Explorer MTB. I don't know much about the off road series bikes, and having not seen this specific model before, so I'm even more clueless than usual. I do know it has undergone a bunch of changes, including a reduction to seven speeds, new handlebars, new saddle, new wheels, tires, etc. Basically, the frame, Shimano Deore rear derailleur and maybe the stem (maybe) are stock. Nice frame though. Riveted metal head badge. Seller describes it as "ready to ride." Asking $155 on Denver's craigslist.
