Run × Gun (乱×銃) - ShimaSaka (志麻×あほの坂田) [Romaji/Eng Translation]
Wow I actually finished the translation... To be honest, this was quite a pain to translate; there were a lot of things I wasn't sure about and things that could possible mean other things. Just have a look at the translation notes at the end and you will know hahaha.
However, it was totally worth it! This ShimaSaka song is once again amazing!! This duo never lets me down and I truly love the combination and style of the songs they do together. They might even be my favorite duo in USSS, but I can't say for sure (everyone is amazing so it changes a lot).
The translation and Romaji are written below!
Please don’t take my word for it and assume this is actually a 100% accurate translation. I would love to hear any improvement points to be honest, if anyone is better at Japanese than me (which is very easy) I welcome any comments!
Quick disclaimer: I am in no way fluent in Japanese, not even close. BUT I wanted to have a written translation of this song and the romaji in one place, so I did research and translated it in a way that I like (if that even makes sense). I used the translation from the original MV and lots of dictionaries to find out the meaning I personally thought made the most sense.
I hope you enjoy this and maybe find it useful.
There are some quite a lot of translation notes at the bottom to clarify certain translation points, please have a look at it if you are interested
English
(Bang!)
Hey what’s wrong, your knees are trembling
Do you need to take a deep breath?
Into silencer dependent self-indulgence
Fine then, I’ll accompany you
「 What do you wish to accomplish? 」
The night gangster I admired
There is nothing to it, it simply became a star¹
No matter which way it falls, even if it reaches heaven
There is only one conclusion
For tomorrow, Run&Gun, By hook or crook²
Run&Gun, No matter what happens
We will go down together³, don’t forget it
You believe to become skilled enough to take my place, no?
Hey, Hey, Congratulations
Run&Gun, By hook or crook
Run&Gun, No matter what happens
I warned you; Surrender
All-out⁴; properly aim and shoot
At the temple⁵
Hey, what’s wrong, you’re like a mouse in a trap
By all means, open the door and run away
「 You can’t escape after all 」
Gangster that’s breathing faintly in the rain
Not pleading for life, in a hurry to die
No matter how much you wish, no matter how much you pray
The duo of farewell⁷
For tomorrow, Run&Gun, By hook or crook
Run&Gun, No matter what happens
Two sides of a coin on one page
Both me and you strayed from the rags
Hey, hey, it’s well-matched, right?
Run&Gun, By hook or crook
Run&Gun, No matter what happens
Move⁸ the final cylinder
The moment table is turned, with this trigger⁹…
Ah…
A barking and tail wagging pet dog
But it is still a stray dog¹⁰
Playfully reaching out your hand
It’s all right if you only notice it after it is torn into
「 Hehehe.. 」
For tomorrow, Run&Gun, By hook or crook
Run&Gun, No matter what happens
We will go down together, don’t forget it
You want to arrange my end, right?
Hey, Hey, that won’t happen
Run&Gun, By hook or crook
Run&Gun, No matter what happens
I warned you; Surrender
It’s a fate with no unexpected twist
This is a farewell gift Yeah!
RUN&GUN

¹ 星 – hoshi - can mean star. You know that some people say that when someone dies, they become a star. I think this is what they mean with this.
² どうやったって - dō yattatte – basically means no matter what you do or which methods are used, I decided to use an English idiom; by hook or (by) crook. If you say you will do something by hook or by crook, you mean that you will find a way to do it, even if it is difficult or involves dishonest methods. I thought this was very suitable here.
³ 死なばもろとも – shinabamorotomo – Japanese Idiom that means to die all together / go to the grave together. I decided to use ‘go down together’ here.
⁴せいぜい – Seizei – In Japanese this can mean at best or to the utmost / as much as possible. I decided to use a synonym of this; ‘All-out’
⁵こめかみ – Komekami – Temple (side of the head)
⁶ 1. ヘイ どうした 袋のネズミだぞ (Hei dōshita fukuro no nezumida zo)
2. せいぜいトンがっちゃって 走るさ (Seizei ton gatchatte hashiru sa)
This part was quite tricky to translate, so I gave it my own twist. If you were to translate it literally it would end up something like this;
1. ヘイ どうした 袋のネズミだぞ (Hey, what’s wrong, you’re a rat/mouse in a bag/at a dead end)
2. せいぜいトンがっちゃって 走るさ (As much as possible, *tap*/*knock* *ker-chak* run away. ) トン = *tap*/*knock* がちゃ = *ker-chak*/SFX for a door opening
This sounds quite strange, therefore the translation when taking some liberties sounds like this; “Hey, what’s wrong, you’re like a mouse in a trap. By all means, open the door and run away”.
Also, in the first sentence it is possible that there is a play on words there as well.
袋のネズミ – Fukuro no Nezumi – Can be a play on the word 袋鼠 (fururonezumi) which means opossum. I am always reminded of the phrase ‘playing possum’. This phrase refers to the possum’s involuntary reaction to fear or harm, falling into a death-like faint, and also to a person who pretends to be innocent. Which also sounds quite suitable for this song.
⁷ 決別の二人だ(Ketsubetsu no futarida) – I believe this sentence to be about ShimaSaka; they are the duo that will send you off into the next life.
⁸回す (Mawasu) – This verb can mean a lot of things, to be honest I was unsure which they actually meant with it; to turn - to pass around - to move - to turn (to a new use) - to surround (something) etc..
I eventually decided to go with ‘to move (someone or something to where its needed)’ as this somewhat seemed to suit the next sentence ‘The moment table is turned, with this trigger…’. It kind of gives the feeling that you place the gun in the right place so you can quickly take the shot when the situation is favourable.
⁹引き金を引く (hikiganewohiku) – this is the verb for ‘pulling the trigger’. I believe in this part they mean this word, but do not finish saying it. Therefore I left it the same in the sentence.
¹⁰然れど (saredo) – means; be that as it may / even so / though that be so. From my understanding, the dog they mean here is one that is obedient on the surface, but originally it was a stray dog. Therefore you need to remain careful no matter how obedient it looks, it may still bite you.
