Shimmermist Runner - Mount - Mistviel Tangle - Ardenweald

Overview:

The goal is to loot the Shimmermist Runner dropped by a rare encounter Shizgher located at Mistveil Tangle in Ardenweald. In order to make Shizgher corporeal you need to follow a specific set of pathways in a maze to reach him. Once he is killed you will be able to loot the Shimmermist Runner.

Background:

I used the wowhead comment from user sabot7726 as the foundation for getting this mount. Before reading their comment I tried visually using waypoints and looking for these lights/lamps (that others suggested) which was extremely difficult as you are running through elite mobs and can’t really stop to try and get your bearings. Doing it this way I believe I had one or two failed attempts.

Note: If at any point you fail to take the right paths you will hear a distinctive sound that indicates a failure. To reset the process and start over you need to find a scroll located on a tree. The tree coordinates are listed in sabot7726′s waypoints.

Strategy:

Sabot7726 listed the coordinates in reverse order so that the TomTom add-on would display them in the correct order. They also suggested getting the add-on Paste to use for the display of the TomTom coordinates. I made sure to put my TomTom green arrow in the center of the screen to make it easier for my eyes to follow each changing waypoint. Their final suggestion was to have your mounts equipped with the Comfortable Rider’s Barding.

Note: Since I have level 100 Shadowlands leather working I had previously made this and coincidentally already had it equipped. It will make it so you cannot be dazed while mounted. If you have leather working you can either make your own or buy off the auction house.

When I pasted the waypoint coordinates in the Paste add-on, along with my non-dazing mount enhancement this part of the challenge was a breeze.

The Encounter:

Once you have navigated through the correct paths Shizgher will become corporeal and you will be able to engage him. I was able to solo him as a havoc demon hunter ilevel 174 at the time.

Note: Try to always be aware of your surroundings as accidentally aggro-ing surrounding elites can be a deadly mistake.

Note: If you die during the encounter you are able to reengage Shizgher after resurrecting. It does not make you redo the entire process.

Note: Even after killing Shizgher and looting the mount if I run to the area I can still engage Shizgher. Just be aware if you are casually running through the area for a world quest as you may unexpectedly aggro this elite.
