Anyone you has ever thought about or is currently into making AMVs needs watch videos from this person tehninjarox on youtube or, as he more commonly known as Shin-AMV.
The important thing to remember if you're an aspiring editor is not to feel discouraged when watching his videos. Instead, feel inspired to someday reach that bar he had set.
AMV Title: Extraball
Editor: Shin-Amv
Anime: (There's a lot, you ready?) A Certain Magical Index, A Certain Scientific Railgun, Angel Beats, Bakemonogatar, Ef - a tale of melodies, K-ON!!, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, To Aru Kagaku no Railgun
What makes this stand out: All you have to do is watch the first five seconds and you'll be able to tell this AMV is on another level. The visual effects are numerous but they are integrated seamlessly into the video and blended together to the point where can hardly tell what's 'supposed' to be there and what is actually an effect. Also, the fact that the video isn't story based in the slightest. And how rare for an AMV with no story whatsoever to grab hold of viewers and keep their attention all the way through. I can barely get through an episode of my favorite anime without alt tabbing to look at facebook, or refreshing my latest fanfiction and drown in glorious comments and reviews like the attention whore that I am.
Can you watch it without having watch the show(s) - Yup. Since it's not story or character based, it's more abstract nature lets anime fans both familiar and unfamiliar alike enjoy it.
What I personally like: Nothing is wasted. Not a single frame in this video has gone to waste. Every second is stunning.
What I personally dislike
Overall Rating 5 out of 5
I know I said no video is perfect and I'm sure if I ever spoke with Shin he'd point out every little thing wrong with it at which point I would go and cry into my pillow because his 'mistakes' are usually the best I can do on my own videos. But, this is about as close to perfection one can get. And with every video Shin churns out, he just keeps getting better and better.
Aim for the stars, kiddos, but make sure you use a grappling hook.
Ive had this song on repeat since I heard it last night. My love for it was auto doubled when it was set to an epic Natsume Yuujinchou AMV
So one of my favorite editors decided to make a Code Geass AMV to Seven Devils by Florence and the Machine.
I am EXTREMELY okay with this.
