Weeks after the incident at the gymnasium, the principal’s summons, and the run – around – campus between two young boys who had a passion for music, long weekends were finally approaching. That said, visiting record shops and strolling along the streets of London for a decent side – job may finally pay off. Owners would need strong young men to carry and transport supply at cheap costs without contracts to avoid legal lawsuit for child labor. Cheap paint – jobs, babysitting, dog walking and the likes would be quite in – demand.
Terry, David’s older brother, had just gotten home from work helping a small shop with favors to keep it tidy. While Peggy’s abuse towards Terry is a depiction of her shame over Terry’s mental welfare, David adored and loved his brother dearly. They’d take long walks and stay out telling stories of their days and heads, take the young boy to places he hasn’t been and show him the ways of living as a poor English boy. He’d gotten David short - term jobs enough to help financially around the house and buy himself treats here and there. Terry was an exceptional brother to the young David but Peggy, their mother, doesn’t meet eye to eye with David’s fondness of her first born, often hitting him.
“There’s this boy at school.” David begins, scratching the dirt off his shoe while Terry lies beside him on the wooden walkway by the lake; feet bare and soaked in the waters. “Bailed me out, he did.”
“Is it the principal’s kid again? Heard he’s gotten in trouble at the gymnasium same day you did, Dave.” Replies Terry. “You ought to go thank the little bugger, yeah? Give ‘em somethin’ nice.”
Money barely is enough for the family, but Terry knew that with his disorder, there is little he could do to protect his younger half – brother. In return, he’d thank and do favors to people who watched after David; buy them a decent loaf or some fruits, or cheap candy he can get his hands on.
Terry gave David a few coins and instructed him to get the young lad candy, to which David happily obliged leaving Terry by himself and off to look for Peter.
