New Character: Ray 01
Name: Ray 01
Universe: Custom Robo
Game of origin: Custom Robo (GameCube/Custom Robo Battle Revolution)
Probability of inclusion: High
In the Custom Robo universe, robot battling has become the future's favorite pastime. Custom Robos are small robots that are remotely controlled by human operators. Each model can be customized with different weapons, such as guns, boosters, bombs, etc. The Ray model of Custom Robo is the first model of robot that the player will receive at the beginning of each Custom Robo game. Rays have become the mascot of the series, receiving new models with each game. Ray Mk III made an appearance in Super Smash Bros Brawl as an assist trophy. It was very small and spent its time on screen flying around and blasting the field with lasers and bombs. This model is Ray 01, the Ray used by the protagonist of the Custom Robo Gamecube game, as well as the Custom Robo DS game: Custom Robo Arena. If Ray were to be made into a playable character, the it would have to gain a huge boost in size, because if you'll remember, the Ray Mk III was only about 1/3 the size of Mario in Brawl. I picture the Ray 01 being around the size of Link in SSB4, should it actually be included.
Standard Special: Ray fires a burst of shots from its energy rifle. There are many different kinds of guns (the wiki lists 73), each with a different effect and rate of fire, so there are plenty of different guns to choose from for this character.
Side Special: Ray fires two bombs out of its bomb launcher, one goes diagonally up, one goes diagonally down, then both go horizontal. These travel for a bit before detonating, basically being like Samus's missiles, but travel a shorter distance.
Down Special: Ray fires a stationary explosive from the pods on its back, which hovers in place and detonates on contact, or over a time period.
Up Special: Ray air-dashes straight up, but can also be controlled during this attack. Collision with an opponent will cause damage.
I feel like the majority of its melee attacks will be gun-bashes and explosives. So it's basically a more agile Samus. Regardless, I'd really like to see Custom Robo represented in SSB, because I really like the design of the robots.
