It’s 5AM, and I can’t sleep. I want to, but it just isn’t happening for me right now. SO, I’m gonna tell you about my dog.
My parents got him for Christmas. We haven’t had a dog since our Dachshund Max died close to three years ago, and my Dad was a bit skeptical about the idea of a new one. But he eventually caved -- as much as he complains that he didn’t -- and they brought him home as a Christmas present.
One day, like...two weeks ago, we (my mom, my younger sister, and myself) were leaving my grandparents’ house to go pick up my Aunt’s dry-cleaning for her. I was getting in the car to drive when this cute Jack Russel Terrier comes over. I had seen him sniffing around a bush at the end of the driveway seconds before and didn’t notice him come over to us until Mom was questioning why I wanted to drive.
I saw him so close and yelled, “PUPPY!” because I’m actually 6 (I’m 19 we established before but you get it) and he jumped up into the driver’s seat. My younger sister, who was already in the back started petting him and he went back to her where she fed him french fries while we looked at his tags. Mom called the number and found out it was a California (We live in Georgia) number, and couldn’t get a response.
We went to the dry-cleaners and picked up what my aunt needed with the puppy in the spacious truck looking out the window. Mom called Dad and let him know that there was gonna be a puppy at our house for a day or two until we got the owner to call us back.
But, you know, as soon as we hung up with him, the owners called and it turned out he lived on the next street over from us. So we took him home and talked to his owners for a minute or two and they told us they were looking for an owner for him because their daughter gave him to them when she had kids. The woman who owned him said she was allergic to dogs and so he had to stay outside, only he wasn’t an outside dog, so he kept getting out of the gate and running off, hence why he was in my grandparents’ yard.
So my sister and I are all about this puppy, thinking we have to convince Dad to let us keep him! Only when we get home, he doesn’t appear to budge.
Everyone we talked to said that he chose us by getting into our car.
Well eventually, they brought him home and we got new tags for him with our address and information on him in case he ran off somehow. So far he’s only gotten out once because Jehovah's witness knocked on the door the day after we got him. -_-
Honestly, he’s the cutest dog. He’s white with brown spots over his ears and eyes and he’s adorable.
His tags said his name was Trigger when we found him, and Dad said we couldn’t change his name. My sister calls him Doggo, and I tend to refer to him as Shinobu (Like the Chinchilla on that episode of Bob’s Burgers). Most everyone else calls him Doggo if they don’t call him Trigger.
He likes playing Tug-of-war and will growl and snarl at you when you play with him. He likes to cuddle and sleeps most of the day. He’s taken to sleeping in my bed, which has my older sister a bit jealous, but he spends the mornings with her anyway.
He’s asleep right now at the end of my bed.
I wish I could go to sleep....There’s no point in trying at this point....
Anyway, there you go. All about my Doggo.
