smolalice replied to your post “YES! Got the first shiny Rowlet (male). It’s being hatched right now....”
! Can I ask if you have any tips for breeding shinys? I was breeding a Japanese Rowlet with and English one. 300+ eggs later and no shiny. Or am I just not being patient enough?
Yeah, I’ve been breeding shines for years! I have a shit ton of tips for you, fret not my friend ❤
Shiny breeding Involves a *lot* of patience. You can get a shiny in as fast as the first five eggs (happened to me once when I wasn’t even breeding for a shiny! It was a Mr. Mime I was breeding the HA for someone else and in one of the first five eggs, it came) or as late as forever.
More under the cut because this is somewhat long, but I’ve broken down the entire process for you:
Masuda method tips for XY
After having some great success of hatching shinys with the Masuda method, after years of trying XY seem to like me and in a week I've bred 4 shinys with this method. So I thought I'd share some tips for you guys, some of you may have seen these in various guides but for those who don't know here's some pointers.
1st Go take your 3DS for a walk...not kidding go have a walk up town or round the block its great exercise (or cheat and sit there shaking your 3ds 4000 times) and once you hit 4000 steps you'll get a 4x bonus on your O-power regeneration. This is so useful and great for mass hatching. As your O-power energy recovers extremely fast so you'll have plenty to spare just be aware it resets when it hits midnight.
2nd Have a flame body pokemon like slugma *can be found at the friend safari* or Talonflame. Have these popped at the front of your team this will halve the steps required for egg hatching, great for those rare slow hatching dragon eggs.
3rd pick your pokemon. Choose what your project is, currently mines hunting for a shiny Zorua. What you will need is a foreign pokemon from the GTS. Either get the same as what your breeding for or a compatible egg group partner or a ditto. The language must be different so uk and usa pokemon wont work if traded to each other as its the same language. Which sucks and I find Jpn GTS pokemon demand high trade prices along with ditto. More so if your like me and breeding for IVs and shinys. (but Ivs is not something I'm gonna go into) So just make sure by its name that theres a symbol stating the language it came from. This means its Masuda viable. so being in the UK I would need a jpn, frn, ger, itl language pokemon as an example to breed with my English one.
4th start to hoard eggs. What I tend to do is fill 3-6 boxes with eggs *each box holding 30* then hatch them on mass. As I tend to work at my art desk during the day so my method works for me but you can hatch as soon as you receive them. This dosn't effect your chances of getting a shiny as whether its shiny or not is already decided once you collect the egg.
5th Egg hatching production line
get your flame body pokemon and your 5 eggs in your party and go to Lumiose city. Go to the "Not Eiffel tower" and hop onto your bike and activate the lv3 hatching power. Then get some blue tack and stick your controller stick to the side so your character cycles constantly in a circle round the tower.
6th patience
hatch your eggs, this is where luck can comes into it.... you could hatch all 6 boxes and not get one or on the 2nd egg you may get the shiny. Just keep at it, hatch all the eggs if you don't get the shiny collect more eggs and repeat. Don't give up it will appear. I've had a shiny within 2 eggs hatching and then one after 700 eggs. So stick with it, I felt like giving up last night with my Amura hunt but I was like fine 1 more batch and boom there's the shiny.
Other than shiny fishing chain its probably the easiest way to get the shiny you specifically want and with eggs moves, ideal natures and IVs. So give it a try I'm sure the shiny rate has increased with this generation as I've never gathered so many shinys so fast, I have 12 in total from fishing, friend safari and breeding. So those who havn't found any yet, don't give up, it takes time and patience but you'll be rewarded if you stick with it.
A perfect example of how a subtle variation in finish adds refinement to an otherwise simple manicure.
