I never understood the shinymayflower url

ah, then i shall explain sit down kids i'm about to tell you a story

you see during 2012 i made many accounts on many different websites, most of them pokémon related because that was my main fandom until later in the year when it switched to aa

and overtime starting in really late 2011 when i made my mario wiki forum account and fanfiction.net account i came up with a naming pattern, where i'd take a character or thing and put the words 'shiny' or 'shadow' in front of them- both in reference to pokémon, because shiny pokémon and the shadow pokémon from pokémon colosseum and xd gale of darkness

i've been shiny kirby, shiny celebi, shadow celebi, shadow victini, shiny jirachi, shiny mew, shadow jirachi, shiny raven and so on (as you can see most of these are pokémon since as i said that was my main fandom and also they were all the cute legendaries because i adore cute legendaries)

before i came to tumblr i had been spending most of my time on tvtropes and my name there was shadow mayflower and so the name of this account ended up being shinymayflower

i didn't have that naming pattern at first so that's why my ushi no tane account is btnfan and my mariowiki forum before i changed it to shiny celebi was wakerluma and nowadays i've given up that naming pattern except for my archive of our own account which is called TheShinyFan everywhere else i just tend to use characters 90% of the time i use juniper (morizumishinobu, juniperwoods, juniper-woods, shinobumorizumi, morizumi-shinobu, shinbu-morizumi you know how it is) but sometimes i use different characters that i like a lot (like sakurakyouko for my epicmafia account- which is nifty because if you think about it it can either reference sakura kyouko/kyouko sakura the magical girl or kyouko kirigiri and sakura oogami two shsl gals)

and so that is the story of the shinymayflower url that's all kids

i remember a while ago seeing a post asking people to change their icon to a square the same shade as tumblr so maybe some people were changing their icons to that?

GOD YES maybe it was the edgeworth casefiles bc he definitely got the ~star treatment in that one
