Cleaning up the muck of the steeds belonging to the king’s knights was never an easy task nor was it even a most pleasant task. Yet, the youth bequeathed as Nine had no reason to turn it down. He was given the name by the prince who found him, subsequently taken in as a servant but did not get along with many of the other servants residing within the castle. Because of his rambunctiousness and incapacity to do anything but argue with many of the people who ordered him around, he was left to the stables.

Proving to be a worthy stablehand, he served there for a few years. Already at what others would call a marriageable age, Nine was still kept around as a stableboy, only nowadays he sought refuge in actually being there. It was peaceful, but it also got lonely when no one else wanted to visit except for the prince and sometimes the knights who hunted alongside him.

However, on this particular day the stableboy was not by his lonesome. Walking out of one of the many stalls in which he cleaned that day, Nine threw off his gloves and mucking boots and stepped out to have some clean, fresh air before having to dip back in and continue his work. On the ground beside the entrance, he found a young woman sitting there half asleep and completely at ease.

Tip toeing closer, he recognized her as the king’s huntress, and was shocked to find her near the stables. He wondered what to do her about her for a moment as no one else was around, and thought it best to wake her. After all, what if someone found her asleep while she was on the job or something? It wouldn’t look good.

Approaching the woman, he leaned down and shook her shoulder, “Hey! Hey!!”

In particular to Sice, Nine’s idea of true friendship came down to one time that they were hiding in the kitchen area of their orphanage because they stole some cookies from the cookie jar and instead of ratting him out, Sice just helped him escape so they could share between them and even when Arecia came to yell at them she just took the blame but he wouldn’t let her so they both got into so much trouble but it was so worth it.
