What made you ship it?

Well, it would be funny as fuck. Hard to imagine Hawkeye going for it but I feel like eg Flagg trying to seduce ~suspected homosexuals~ and going so far he has weeks long affairs is in line with the show's sensibility lol. Maybe it could be Flagg trying as hard as he can to entrap Hawkeye and Hawkeye cockblocking him at every turn in a sort of Wyle E Coyote/Road Runner dynamic, until Hawkeye's like 'actually he's not bad looking and I'm kind of hard up right now' and devises a trickster way to get the dick without the risk.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

It's a Looney Tunes ship! There's so much potential for shennanigans.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I don't think enough content exists for opinions to be either popular or unpopular lol.

What made you ship it?

Also the fact that it's funny as fuck, but there are actual possibilities here. I can very easily imagine them fucking.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

The comedy potential. Awkward top Frank, mean bottom Hawkeye. The fact that it's so easy to headcanon that they both know the other isn't straight and if they ever did trip and fall into bed together they wouldn't necessarily even have to discuss it or have to have a crisis. But they also could easily have a crisis, Frank because sure he's an evil repressed republican and Hawkeye because it's Frank. The way Frank is so desperate for approval and high key wishes he was friends with Hawkeye. The concept of anyone else who knows them both finding out and going "...Him?" The potential convoluted power dynamic of Frank being a major (or maybe acting commander) but Hawkeye being Hawkeye.

Also in a more specific hot take, there's something intriguing to me about Hawkeye rewiring Frank's brain and making him a better person because Frank is so pathetically moldable, and kinda maybe being into having the ability to do that to someone? Like I think there's a possibility where maybe Hawkeye's non-physical attraction to Frank would be a somewhat fucked up power trip. And this would be even better if he did it through being subby rather than dommy.

This was essentially the planned route for the sadly single chapter Hawnk wip I have up on ao3 lol. Maybe someday I'll have some motivation to write more.

I think I'm the only one who sees that vision lol ^

How would you rank all the popular mash ships?

I'm not really abiding by popularity lol, but for me and what I'm into specifically:

1 - Hawk/Trap

They're just so much fun to watch on screen. They have great chemistry, a very fun vibe, they can combine fluff and angst in very satisfying ways, they're probably less complicated than most of my favourite ships but what they lack in toxicity they make up for in fun.

2 - Hawk/Frank

They're just so much fun to write lol, they're so incredibly funny as a dynamic, and I enjoy trying to make it work as an actual relationship. Also I got a thing for pathetic loser tops.

3 - Hawk/BJ

I'm into the toxicity here, the kind of ship I'm more typically into, ie full of strife and misery, but they don't quite have the intensity of feeling for me to make it last or make me care about them resolving their issues and living happily ever after. I ship them as a fucked up fling.

4 - Hawk/Charles

I just think they could be fun together, though any endgame between them would require a lot of change on Charles' end.

5 - Hawk/Sidney

I'm more into it as Sidney fucking up professional boundaries than as a healthy thing, but I can def be into it.

6 - Any other gay ship with Hawkeye

Unabashedly ranked from Hawkeye bottoming to Hawkeye topping.

7 - Any gay Mash ship that doesn't involve Hawkeye

Mash is the Hawkeye show to me, it's what I'm here for, and I have virtually no vested interest in any ship that doesn't involve him.

8 - Hawkeye/any woman

I enjoy almost no het. If it's endgame it'll drive me away from fic I otherwise would enjoy, if it's just a one night stand I'll read it if I'm really into other aspects of the fic, character stuff or w/e, but I'll be wishing it was gay.

9 - Any het Mash ship that doesn't involve Hawkeye

Very much not for me.

10 - BJ/Peg/Hawkeye

True least fave ship in fandom. In theory I could be into it as a trainwreck that ends in divorce and Hawkeye metaphorically walking away from an explosion lol, but I've never seen that, and harassment from some of the shippers has made me actively hate it as opposed to merely disinterested.

Also Hawkeye/OMCs are surprisingly high, probably right after Hawk/Frank, but I didn't count that as a ship. But I like the idea of Hawkeye with random dudes during the show, or Hawkeye with a guy who's unaffiliated with the Korean war post-canon.

What made you ship it?

I watched the show and thought to myself, it would be funny if these two guys fucked, and somehow I completely believe they would both absolutely go for it in the right circumstances.

They're also a shoe-in for a sexual dynamic I'm really into lol, ie confident cool bottom/awkward loser top, and it's incredibly fun to write Frank from Hawkeye's point of view. So maybe it's not really a surprise that my first Mash fic was Hawnk lol.

I don't really endgame ship them because I can't quite make it work in my head and even if Frank turned a political 180, which I could totally believe, he still wouldn't be like, fun enough or cool enough for Hawkeye lol - but I want to endgame ship them because it would just be so funny.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

Hawkeye bullying Frank while Frank fucks him

The sheer unadulterated "him??????" factor of anyone from the 4077 finding out post canon.

How completely awful and obnoxious and pathetic Frank is because it's fun to write.

The concept I have in my head of Hawkeye and Frank both knowing full well the other would be dtf and carefully stepping around that knowledge in their own heads.

Frank's hilarious level of repression, ie imo he's not actually repressed, but he wishes he was and pretends to be, even to himself. But like, the instant a cool dude expressed interest he'd be down because he craves validation that much.

It's actually pretty versatile considering - like it can range from comedy to angst to darkfic without stretching the characterizations.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

One thing I want to mention because I've seen a few people complaining about it recently: I don't think it matters that Frank getting character development or more 3 dimensionality in fic goes against the themes and even genre of the show. Fanfic is transformative. I would never have wanted Frank to get character development and become someone Hawkeye could fuck without cringing in canon lol, but that's exactly what fanfiction is for.

But idt that's actually an unpopular opinion, so here's another one: it's the most entertaining possible ship for Mash. I ship HawkTrap more because it's what Hawkeye deserves, but Hawnk is just so incredibly fun lol.

What made you ship it?

I don't ship it in the sense of ever wanting to read about them falling in love, I couldn't buy that, but I do ship it in the sense of "it would be funny if they fucked," which definitely counts as shipping to me.

What made me ship it is probably the jokes and the rapport they have. I can pretty easily headcanon that Henry, Trapper, Klinger, and Hawkeye are the 4077 lgbt club lol, and Henry is actually the most canonically bi of all of them in the sense that the punchline of a few of the jokes is Henry earnestly and unselfaware-ly being attracted to Klinger.

So like, maybe they fucked? Why not? Maybe they occasionally fuck when their dates fall through. They both got that swingers into nsa sex vibe.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

It's funny! There is actually a compelling power dynamic too, with Henry as CO and Hawkeye as the manipulative gaslighter who always gets his way. Adding sex to that is like a flavour enhancer.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Being into it at all, probably lol. Also I have a standing headcanon that Hawkeye blew Henry a few days after his arrival when he realized Henry was bent, in a bitter bid to get preferential treatment, before realizing that it was entirely unnecessary, and they joke about it after, which I doubt is a common take lol.
