Shirogane is glad she wrapped up warm. The snow fell thickly overnight, and while the pure white blanket covering the park is a beautiful sight, it’s also far too cold to deal with Iruma’s shenanigans.
Pulling Shirogane along by the hand, Iruma cackles.
“Aren’t I great?! Only I could come up with an amazing date like this!”
“Ah, yes,” Shirogane says noncommittedly. “Although, you haven’t told me where we’re going yet.”
“Excited? Yeah, I would be, too,” says Iruma. “Don’t worry! We’re riiiight about… here!”
Then Iruma stops. Shirogana nearly walks into her. It takes a moment to realise exactly what Iruma’s showing her. In the cold weather, the pond in the park has frozen over completely.
“Perfect, right?! Well, of course it is!” Iruma answers herself. “Ice skating together in the middle of winter… Who wouldn’t fall head over heels for this set up?”
Shirogane blinks at her. She doesn’t know what to say—she’s flattered Iruma would plan such a normal, cute date just for her, but at the same time she wants nothing more than to escape the cold.
“Um… Is this safe?” Shirogane settles on saying the first thing that comes to mind, though she wonders if that was the wrong choice when Iruma visibly deflates.
“H-huh? Of course it’s safe.” Iruma’s bravado disappears in an instant. “What? Y-you don’t… believe me?”
“No, it’s not that,” Shirogane says. “It’s just, even if the ice looks solid, it could probably still break easily. And… falling in the water when it’s this cold would be really unpleasant…”
Iruma thinks for a moment.
“Then, I just gotta invent something that’ll keep the ice strong as fuck, right?!”
“Ah, I think it’d be easier if we just went to an ice rink…”
