TENDERNESS

You are not afraid of the sufferings and sorrows of other people, even when they are acted out in unappealing ways. // Shirou would never tease someone else for a fear they happen to have, even if it was an uncommon or even silly fear. He tries--tries--to be as understanding as he can, though sometimes certain things can be hard for him to wrap his head around. He’ll also try to avoid even bringing up the other person’s fears in conversation if he can help it/remembers; it just seems like the most polite thing to do, in his eyes.

8. Did they have pets as a child? Do they have pets as an adult? Do they like animals?

// Sadly, Shirou’s never really had any pets at all. The closest he’s had, morbid as it may be, is the collection of tiny skulls on his shelf. He does quite like animals--living ones, even--but, as much as he would love to adopt something like a cat, he doesn’t have the time to take care of one the way it would deserve.

41. What’s their sexuality? What do they find attractive? Physically and mentally? What do they like/need in a relationship?

// Shirou is bisexual. He doesn’t have any particular “preference”, as it were, as far as physical features go--he would tell you that he can appreciate all types of physical beauty, that everyone and everything is beautiful in one way or another goddamn my child is a giant hippie. He does, however, teeeend to lean towards women when it comes to romance and sex. Whether this is actual preference on his part or simple circumstance remains to be seen--for the most part, however, it’s almost definitely just a lack of opportunity to be with a man in a romantic or sexual sense. (He is very curious about what that might be like.)

As far as personality, however, he tends to prefer people who are more like him in disposition. Calm, quiet, collected. He has a bit of a hard time keeping up with high-energy people after a long time, though he does try his hardest, bless his heart. (The exception there might be Lux, oddly enough. The only exhaustion there is from trying to out-nice her.)

Shirou needs stability above all. Stability and understanding. Understanding that he will travel frequently, that if his lover doesn’t opt to travel with him he’ll likely come back home exhausted (admittedly, if they do travel along he’ll still be exhausted, but he’ll be exhausted with company), that his work is... dreary at best, and thus that when he talks shop it’s not going to be a particularly cheerful discussion.

This is complicated by the fact that he does crave physical affection--though he isn’t one to admit to such--and it’s just so terribly difficult to have so much as a consistent snuggle buddy when you’re traipsing across Valoran for months on end.

35. What’s their guilty pleasure? What is their totally unguilty pleasure?

// Shirou adores mainland desserts. There’s a pastry shop in Piltover that makes what he has decided to be the best chocolate cakes in existence, though he considers that more of a once-a-visit treat. The real hazard is when you put him in front of small desserts, like cookies, because he’ll start just... eating them without much thought to how much he’s eating.

As far as un-guilty pleasures, the answer is--naturally--tea. Nothing makes Shirou quite as happy as a nice cup of hot tea, no matter what kind. (He does, however, have a preference for somewhat fruity blends.) If he could live off the stuff, he’d probably try.

7. Did they have lots of friends as a child? Did they keep any of their childhood friends into adulthood?

Most of Shirou’s childhood friends were just other people who happened to be members of the Order--and nearly all of those members were adults, even when he was just a little thing. He spent so much of his time either at home or in the temple that he just never had a chance to even meet anyone his age.

The one major exception, however, would be a foreigner who came to visit when he was fifteen. (Not strictly a child, of course, but... still counts.) Kat may be the only person he met before the Invasion who’s still alive, let alone someone he’s on a first-name basis with.

2. Do they have any titles? How did they get them?

// Officially, Shirou is a kannushi, and the respectful way to address him would be sensei--however, he’s... not much of a stickler for that, to be honest, and tends to respond more readily to just his name, especially when it comes to foreign friends. He’s not about to berate Caitlyn, for instance, for just calling him his name.

He earned his title by... tests, mostly. His parents taught him their Order’s texts and rites over the course of nearly ten years, and he went through an extensive series of tests once he came of age (around age 13). At which point, he wasn’t so much certified as just... brought into the fold. No papers, just duties. He spent more and more time at the temple afterwards, and then more and more time out around the various villages and towns of Ionia.
