So I think I'm going to restructure my exercise routine a bit to (hopefully) lead to better lean muscle growth. What I was doing was:
M-W-F:Upper Body & Abs
T-Th-S: Lower body
But with a daily weight-based routine, I feel like my body wasn't getting enough recovery time. The new plan goes something like this:
Monday: Upper Body & Abs
Tuesday: Cardio & Stretching
Wednesday: Lower Body & Abs
Thursday: Cardio & Stretching
Friday: Upper Body & Abs
Saturday: Lower Body
Sunday: Yoga
It'll absolutely be different and something to get used to, but variation like this should help muscle grow easier and give me a more well-rounded routine. Once I'm done with physical therapy, I'll set Monday as a day focusing on chest and arms with some back exercises and Friday focusing on back and arms with some chest exercises. I feel like this is the best I've ever had this set out, and with proper stretching I'll avoid dumbass injuries like what I did to my shoulder a month and a half ago (plus, when exercise is combined with proper stretching, it allows your spine to lengthen and means I could potentially grow a few inches taller). Also, with a more proper incorporation of cardio, my endurance will get a lot better and mean I can force my workouts on every other day further without wearing myself out too fast. I'm going to start keeping a notebook of daily exercises to do and make my routine more strict and structured. If all goes well I'll stick to this like glue and make some serious changes in my lifestyle and body. Next step is to structure a good diet for myself...
