Work has left me in an absolutely foul mood so I'm not likely to be on much today, but we'll see if I can spare the energy to do a few things tonight/tomorrow
Young people entering the workforce (particularly customer service positions.). I have advice that you desperately need to follow if you want to A) Keep your job and B) Not make a bad day even worse.
One day you're gonna be handling a customer. Your day has been shitty. Maybe you're overwhelmed, maybe you're in pain, maybe shit at home's bothering you whatever, doesn't matter. It's gonna show on your face - and that's okay! No one can hide it all the time.
This customer is going to notice. And they're going to ask if you're okay, or what's wrong.
Do. Not. Answer.
Say you're fine. Say it's nothing. Crack a joke and laugh it off through the tears. Anything but the truth. This customer may seem like they're being nice, and maybe they are. But there's a 50/50 shot that what they're doing is looking for more information so they can complain about you, or possibly even yell directly at you. They want to know why you're not smiling, why you didn't bend over backwards to make their day better. They WANT to get someone fired. I don't know why they're so smug and proud about it when it happens, but it seems to be their only joy in life. Don't give it to them and mark your record cause they decided to kick you when you're down.
My personal advice is say nothing at all. They ask me if I'm okay and I give them a quizzical look and go "yeah???" like I don't understand why they'd even ask that. Half the time it works. Half the time they probe further, telling me I look upset or seem like something's wrong. Double down. Insist you're fine. Give them a big fake smile if you gotta. Trying to pry out of you what's wrong is a huge red flag. They don't know you and they're not your friend, they're pissy that you're not making them feel like a princess. Protect yourself. Your job isn't worth venting to a stranger I promise you.
hooooooo boy im pissed at customers again. How do their brains work in such a way that its acceptable to them to Raise their voice at a worker asking for clarification. They see nothing wrong with this?!??!?!?@;@?! Guy asked for "Antique Books" I asked if he meant books on antiques or collectible antique books. He repeats "Antique Books." with emphasis, like that changed what he said. I repeated my question, asking if he meant books on antiquing or books that are antiques. HE REPEATS AGAIN, "ANTIQUE BOOKS." I say Yes Sir, but which section are you wanting. This man,,, thought it acceptable to raise his voice and almost shout "BOOKS WITH PICTURES OF ANTIQUES IN THEM" I am gobstruck, what the fuck dude. I point deadpan to the antiquing and collecting section and say "Thats the Antiquing Section." And don't talk to him anymore. Because in what world is that ok. In what world is that the move instead of juST SAYING THAT WHEN I FIRST ASKED. HUH? GROW SOME MANNERS SIR BEFORE I KILL YOU WITH MY FISTS AND TEETH. BASTARD MAN
Shout out to the guy who came into the restaurant and after getting plate after plate at the salad bar made a huge stink and was screaming blue murder because the “chocolate pudding” on the salad bar tasted abysmal.
He’s demanding refunds and I’m like sir. There is no pudding on the salad bar. So I let him show me and lo and behold he points to the container of dark brown goo between the French dressing and the Ranch dressing.
Sir. That is Balsamic Vinaigrette and you took a bowl of it thinking it was pudding. The restaurant is not at fault for this one.
did you have a rude customer when you reblogged the post or was it at a person
I have had a rude customer before that I almost denied service to!
He was coming to buy cigarettes, looked younger, and had a passenger in his car. I could only see that it was someone else sitting there, and they have cameras all over where I work, right? So I need to see all ID’s if you look under 30.
I asked him if I could see his ID, and the person in his cars ID. It’s a state where I gotta get IDs from the whole party. Well, he was like “MY DAUGHTERS ID?” Very angrily.
And I was like, oh, my apologies, I just need to make sure I get IDs from everyone, I thought they may have just been a passenger
And he’s cussing, saying this is a load of shit, and what the fuck, all that
And I said, I’m sorry, do you want cigarettes today? And he like looked at me so pissed off. Answered, yes.
So I responded, I’m here to help you out, and if you want cigarettes, you will stop cussing at me.
He APOLOGIZED, backtracked so fast, started being so polite, and I sold him cigarettes. Now every time he’s come up here again, he’s nothing but polite.
I hate fast food customers so fucking much I just had a woman tell me that I "need to get out more" and laugh because I didn't know the fancy word for napkins
like. ma'am this is a MCDONALD'S
POV you're wearing a pride pin and the couple who always wear their Trump merch (hat, shirt, pins and socks) looks at you like
And they ask "isn't that a bit much?"
