#: 035, at a table during a charity gala. @shivnation, shiv roy.
there was a certain irony with charity galas that vincent, a boy whom had nothing and now everything, noticed with a particular disdain. the opulence of chandeliers, the rich symphonies of sophisticated music, the elegance of suits and gowns that, priced altogether, could fund the charity itself in its entirety. vincent was undoubtedly an arrogant, egocentric man, but at least he didn't begin to fake otherwise through a mask of illegitimate altruism, never followed through. two marble statues within the midst, expressions hard, they sip champagne like water: they wore their worth on their clothing, him especially haughty with own sense of betterment as the host professed his own nobility. had shiv been looking at him, vincent would have rolled his eyes to express his sheer contempt. (he felt isolated from the struggles and passions their host implored heed upon, feeling much too far from feeling at all. perhaps it was hard to take notice when the room was embedded in consumer-capitalist culture: there was not a soul present of whom these afflictions had directly attached itself to, only rich, corporate men who took their place as spokesperson. like he had any fucking clue what it was like to suffer.) vincent's gaze is cold, dark and distant pupils buried into the temple of the almost-stranger like a bullet.
❛ i bet his dick gets hard just listening to his own voice, ❜ vincent murmurs, just low enough to find her ears only, the final word getting lost into the champagne flute that was rapidly emptying. every event that they attended together seemed only to remind him of how truly absent he was from the world that the roy family had practically invited him into, envisioning it as something he could never truly embrace as his own. beyond the gilded charade of wealth and prosperity, he was still that same little boy, simply thrown into an oversized body: he pictured eating dry cereal by the handful on the muddied counter, all because the power was shut off, again.
