Goodbye, Shitsuo(fanfic)
A little backstory here--this is based of a roleplay I was in. Shitsuo was Sakuraya's butler and they were childhood friends that eventually fell in love. As adults they confessed and started dating. Tragically, Sakuraya was killed in by a hit-and-run driver while trying to save a puppy.
/Oh also Shitsuo really likes reading/
So now this won't sound as weird~
Hopefully.

". . . Parting is such sweet sorrow, that I shall say goodnight till it be marrow. . . "
"It's a classic," a matter-o-fact voice stated through the darkness.
"It makes no sense, though!" a sweet, innocent voice piped up. It was gentle and bubbly. Even with the annoyance that laced it's tone. The voice felt warm in the crisp cold darkness. The heat it gave radiated in the man's chest with familiarity.
"What doesn't make sense?" asked the first voice.
"Why does Romeo have to leave? Why doesn't he stay with Juliet and get married? They love eachother right, so he shouldn't leave!"
He was so desperate sounding. It was really upsetting to the sweet boy that Romeo was leaving. Because Romeo was supposed to marry Juliet, they loved eachother. It was distressing to him that these two lovers weren't allowed with eachother. Shitsuo couldn't finish the story, so he lied about the ending to his sweet compain. They both smiled innocent smiles. Something warm trickled through the darkness, slicing the bittersweet memory in two with the blinding realization awakening brought. White light flooded the cold darkness, chasing it away without remorse. Without a care for what waking up would mean for the man.
The sun hung low in the sky, a clear blue covered the expanse above. Two cream colored orbs blinked at the sight. The beauty of Earth was forver tainted behind those eyes, beauty had died for him. Life withered away at his touch and now his heart withered with it. Pink dotted the view in fuzzy blurrs, drfting through the air with lazy determination. He was seated under a Sakura tree. Its petals fluttered about with no direction or plan. Just drifting where the wind pulled. With a heavy breath Shitsuo let the weight settle on his chest. The gulit dig into his bones and mix with their marrow. Let the regret scar his heart like the burns on his hands. All the unspoken words echoed throughout his mind on an endless repeat. His face was still swollen from crying and his head pounding from dehydration. It all seemed like nonexistent pain, however. His gaze drifted with a certian petal--slowly and gently. Till its decent was interrupted by a marble slab. A fresh, shiny, headstone. Shitsuo felt a groan threaten to rip through his throat at the sight. Only, he was too exhasted to find the strength. Shitsuo read the letters imprinted into the stone. It felt like each one was being carved into his flesh with the painful reminder.
"Sakuraya..," the breathy whisper escaped his lips as his eyes skimmed the word. Just speaking it outloud was sickening. It made things so much more real. It made everything that would never happen so much more real.
Unspoken words lingered on his tongue. He wasn't even sure if his thoughts we're his own--or only a memory of something he had smuggled into his brain years ago.
Something sticky clung to his cheeks as they heated up. Lifting his hand from his side, Shitsuo felt the cold stone. Cold and lifeless. Not the warmth of his beloved. Not the heat of
cheeks beaneath his calloused palm nor the soft of rosy pink skin. His bare fingers brushed the petals from atop the stone, the touch burning into his skin as if he were being licked by tongues of fire rather than smooth marble. Sunlight glimmered within the salty emotions pouring from the man's eyes. And silence hung in the air, an unspoken goodbye was stated by his mere presence.
Under the rain of Sakura petals, Sakuraya's reign over his butler's heart also fell. And in the spring sunlight his heart withered into the soil, seeping into the earth where the bones of his beloved lay.
Then, under the rain of Sakura petals, his new life begain.
