11 Questions Meme
I was tagged by leothil a long time ago. Sorry I’m just now doing this! I’ve been really busy with school and work the last month or so.
Rules: 1. Answer the questions from the person who tagged you. 2. Make 11 new questions and tag 11 people.
1. What time of the day do you prefer to read?
I definitely read best during the middle of the day or in the afternoon. In the morning, I’m not focused or alert enough to really pay attention, and when I read at night, I fall asleep.
2. Do you enjoy historical fiction?
I haven’t read much historical fiction in several years. As a kid, there were two historical fiction series I really enjoyed: Dear America and My Name is America. They are written in diary form. Recently, I’ve been picking up a few books I think kinda fall into this genre — Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (I know this borders on sci-fi, but I believe there’s a historical fiction element, as well) and the King Raven trilogy by Stephen R. Lawhead.
3. Have you found any new favourites already this year?
Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut
4. Which fictional character(s) do you relate to the most?
I really connect with the empathy and compassion of Ender Wiggin, as depicted in Speaker for the Dead.
5. Which author, living or dead, would you like to chat with over a cup of coffee?
J.R.R. Tolkien
6. What language do you mostly read in? Is it your mother tongue?
English. Yes, it is.
7. Would you rather live in a dystopian or a high fantasy setting?
Definitely high fantasy!
8. Who is your favourite author?
If I have to choose a favorite author of all time, I will go with Stephen King. If I could pick a current top three of recently read authors, I would go with Jim Butcher, Lois Lowry, and Neil Gaiman. Honorable mention to Garth Nix.
9. Favourite childhood book?
Matilda by Roald Dahl
10. Do you take notes or write in your book while you read?
Generally, I don’t write in my books. When I’m reading on my kindle, I will highlight quotes and passages and use the notes feature. Otherwise, I usually type my favorite quotes and excerpts so I can keep track of them.
11. Choose five characters you’d like to have as roommates!
Oh, dear! Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Ender Wiggin, Aragorn, and Atreyu. This was hard because I felt like I should pick male characters, and many of my favorites are female.
I’m tagging thebooklands, fantasiesandfunbooks, shmcnugg3t, laura-silvae, onthewingsofbooks, krakenkingbooks, manga-books-and-cake, bookdrunkinlove, yesthatbookishnol, becoming-thereader, lorienkittybooks, and bluphoenix10.
