Weird Theatre on Channel 39
The Doctor Is In! The dastardly Dr. Creep of Dayton, Ohio's "Shock Theater." His alter ego Barry Lee Hobart was another interesting case of a host being promoted in-house by a local network rather than an outside actor or comedian. Hobart was the master control operator at Dayton's WKEF-22, not only pitching the idea of a late show to the network, but ultimately nabbing the role of emcee. "Shock Theater" had a great thirteen-year-run -- Hobart did double duty as the host of the kiddie show "Clubhouse 22," another fairly common trend for beloved horror hosts -- even airing on weekend afternoons, later rechristened "Saturday Night Dead" in the '80s when it ran after "Saturday Night Live," resurrected again in the late '90s on public access.

On October 21, 1957, The Invisible Man was screened on WCAU's Shock Theater.
Bob Burns as The Mad Mummy in Shock Theater, c. 1959-1960.
Little did I know these comments on my post about finally getting to ‘Shock Theatre’ would be understatements… which I didn’t think would be possible 😭😭
also I really hope Sam’s electro shock trauma is at least referenced again?? I thought they’d at least mention it in The Leap Back but I understand why they didn’t + I hope they do at least once bc that must’ve been one of the most traumatizing moments of Sam’s life (also I like angst duh). I kinda understand if they don’t tho bc it might not make sense but it depends on the situation ig. And don’t get me started on The Leap Back… “Al Beckett” will haunt me forever

I haven’t even seen Shock Theatre yet but I’m already traumatized after watching the sneak peak of Sam leaping at the end of Nuclear Family
