Twelve Days of Shipmas: Merry Melodies | Shouto Todoroki x Kaye (me!)
The soundtrack to a ShoKaye winter embodies gentle familiarity. It's pulling your love closer, into a sweet embrace or maybe even an impromptu dance as you build the home you've always dreamed of.

Kaye looks up at the sound of his footsteps, smile blooming as she reaches an arm out. "Hey, cutie."
Shouto falls into the embrace with a smile of his own. "How's the book?"
"Good! Just revisiting an old standby." She holds the cover up. He's heard her talk about it many times before, knows how much it means to her.
"This is the same author who wrote that short story, right? The one you get angry about people misinterpreting?"
"I'm not angry about it; I just think people should remember her work is rooted in utopian ideals and genuine belief in a better-" She catches herself. "Yes, she wrote that story, too."
With a gentle laugh, he nestles further into her side, making himself comfortable. "Could you read some of this one to me?"
From this position, he doesn't see the look in her eyes, but feels its meaning through the soft kiss pressed into his hair.
"I'd love to."

Once again, I'm caught red-handed. You know me too well now. Would it be wrong for me to admit that you're absolutely correct? There's just something so delectable about the way your skin flushes that pretty color when you're flustered.
I'm sorry to learn that none of the items at home are up to par. You'll be happy to know that I'll be coming home soon though, so you won't be left aching and needing for much longer.
Now the question is, how should I take care of you first? I keep thinking about it, imagining the way you'll keen and arch for me as my fingers curl into you nice and slow. Will you beg for me to pick up the pace? Maybe I'll indulge you if you do. Or maybe I should start with my tongue instead of my fingers. After all, I've been having my own cravings for you as well.

Shall I stop calling you 'my beloved' in places so public? I have to admit, I do like seeing your face best right after I've whispered it in your ear in the privacy of our bedroom. The way your face warms up, especially when I follow up by running my hands over the contours of your waist, hips, thighs... I can't think about it too much, or I'll be stuck in my assigned room all morning missing your touch and intimacy.
Speaking of intimacy. I hadn't realized you'd gotten that picture of us together. If I'm being honest, I don't remember much of that day at all. Where we were, what we were doing. When I try to recall, all that seems to come to me is the feeling of you in my arms, the warmth of your skin, and the look on your face as I carried you close.
We should recreate that scene again when I get home. Maybe this time, I can carry you to our bedroom and you can show me just how much distance makes the heart grow fonder and the body more pliant.

The picture is from our double date with Midoriya! I was joking when I said I couldn't walk after eating so much, but I wasn't about to object when you picked me up without a second thought. Your arms are my favorite place to be after all, and the picture is such a lovely keepsake of it.
And on that note, I'm so glad you suggested this because honestly, I don't think you're gonna be able to stop me from jumping you the second you step through that door. In the meantime, I'll let you in on a little secret: none of the toys are good enough compared to you, so this time I haven't even bothered trying. Pliant is an understatement, but I know you'll make it worth the wait.

Shouto and I both ended up having to work this weekend, but we're making the most of it with a cozy night in of take-out and television! We're slowly making our way through Midnight Diner; Shouto read the manga in high school and liked it, but he didn't know about the tv adaption until I started talking about it. Luckily Sunday is just a Paperwork Day for us (him filing reports, me finalizing my syllabi for the upcoming semester), so we're gonna have a little coffeeshop-and-work date ☺️
The silver lining of Shouto being gone for work though? I get to text him all sorts of filthy things that he can't do anything about. (I pay for it eventually) He's an absolute monster of a tease all the time, so I get my revenge where I can 😈

2. What are your pet names for each other?
Kaye: I'm real sappy when it comes to pet names (platonically and romantically), and Shoto gets the brunt of it I'm afraid. The ones I use most are "sweetheart," "love," and "honey".
Shoto: "My beloved" makes her so flustered even after all this time, so that one's my favorite. (K: So rude!) But usually it's just "dear" and "love/my love". They just feel the most natural.
6. What do you think the others love language is?
Kaye: I'm not the most touchy-feely person, but I know how much physical closeness means to Shoto (man is like a goddamn cat when it comes to playing with his hair) so I try to be better about it. Although it's not *that* hard.
Shoto: Quality time is so important to her. I feel guilty every time there's an extended patrol or long mission, but that just means I have to make sure the time we do have together is well-spent. I try to have time everyday that's just for us, even if it's just lying in bed for a little longer.
11. When did you know you were in love?
Kaye: Oh god, this is so embarrassing, because I didn't know until I accidentally said "I love you" one morning. I was super stressed out and he made me coffee and packed my lunch, and then I said it and-well, I gave it a quick thought and realized I very much meant it.
Shoto: And I'm the oblivious one. I knew a while before that-it was when we were having dinner with my mother and siblings. Seeing them all together and how well she got along with them-it felt like this was how it was always supposed to be. How I always wanted it to be.
16. What do you two find to be the most attractive about one another?
Kaye: I mean, his everything? His voice drives me crazy like nothing else. (And between you and me, when he loses a bit of control and lets that righteous fury shine through? Oof.)
Shoto: She has the most beautiful hands and they're always soft, even in the dead of winter.
20. What went through your head when feelings were confessed?
Kaye: Honestly, at first I thought it might have been a joke because lol trauma, but I had to remind myself Shoto would never do something like that. Still, I was fully prepared for feelings to be unrequited, so it took me a minute to reboot and realize I wasn't dreaming, aha. ^^;
Shoto: I was a little relieved, and glad. I'm aware I'm not the best at reading people, but I think I can recognize signs now. And I really wanted it to be true, so I asked.
