Security footage from a home in north London captures a man approaching the door of a Jewish residence and using a knife to rip the mezuzah from the doorpost. This disturbing incident is just one of several reported in the area in recent days. But give it time—someone will undoubtedly try to spin this blatant act of antisemitism as “resistance.”

Police in London on Monday arrested a man who attempted to carry out a knife attack on employees of a kosher supermarket in the heavily Jewish Golders Green section of the British capital.
Video of the attempted assault filmed by witnesses showed the 34-year-old man grappling with two employees outside the store as voices off-camera shouted the warning “He’s got a knife!” in Hebrew.
Ignoring appeals to “go away” and “calm down,” the man began swinging a kitchen knife with a large blade as the employees attempted to fend him off by pushing a shopping cart in his way.
“I told Shomrim to come, but I didn’t see he had a knife,” one employee can be heard saying, referring to a voluntary communal organization that assists victims of antisemitic violence.
The same employee is then heard on the phone making an emergency call to the police. “Somebody outside our store has got a knife,” he is heard saying. As the assailant departs the scene, the employee adds, “He’s going up Hamilton Road. Urgent, urgent.”
The assailant, who has not been named, was later subdued by police officers and Shomrim volunteers and placed under arrest on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, criminal damage and racially-aggravated assault.
Trainers offer Krav Maga, the Israeli martial art, in response to street attacks on visibly Orthodox Jews.
Cousin spoke about how the GSD teaches “de-escalation” tactics, and is not just about fighting. He told a story about when he was on patrol with Shomrim and his team confronted a man after a robbery. “He pushed me,” Cousin said. “Instead of pushing him back, I said, ‘I don’t want to fight you.’ I calmed him down. I apologized. That comes from the training — I don’t want to fight, but I’m ready, just in case.”
“This is a last resort program,” he added. “If you put your hands on us, we will remind you that Jewish blood is not cheap.”
Like Legion’s Feldman, Richards is gearing up for a new group of GSD trainees this year who have heard about his Krav Maga program. Richards is the grandchild of four Holocaust survivors and compared the current rise in antisemitism to what his grandparents experienced.
“The Jews are being targeted everywhere — verbally, online, physically. From the right and left, we are now under siege,” Richards said. “If you’re visibly Jewish, you have a double target on your back. We don’t have the luxury of trying to plan what we should do. Everybody should be taking action.”
“There are plenty of people in this class who had never thrown a punch in their life,” Landsman said of his training with Legion. “I’m not asking you to join the UFC [the mixed martial arts league], but you need to be able to stand your ground and unfreeze yourself when somebody is threatening you with violence. You need to know when to run or when there is no retreat and you have to defend yourself.”

“Horrific antisemitic attack in Williamsburg,” tweeted the American Jewish Committee. “A driver pulls over, waits for a group of Jewish men to cross the street, and intentionally hits them twice with his car. We stand in full solidarity with the victims and thank @NYPD90Pct for the swift arrest of a suspect.”
The NYPD reportedly nabbed the suspect — Shokhobiddin Bakhritdinovon, 26 — on Sunday, after his car was spotted by members of Shomrim, a neighborhood watch group.
A knife wielding man chasing a Jewish girl in Crown Heights Sunday morning was stopped thanks to the intervention of a Crown Heights hero.
The incident unfolded at approximately 10:00am on Schenectady Ave when two Jewish men saw a man – described as an African American male wearing a red jacket – chasing a Jewish girl.
One of the Jewish men began yelling at knife wielding male, diverting his attention and allowing the girl to escape.
Crown Heights Shomrim was called as the hero watched the perpetrator disappear near the corner of Schenectady Ave and President Street.
While many Shomrim volunteers combed the streets looking for the perpetrator, a pair stationed themselves on the corner, waiting to see if the man would “reappear”.
Their attempt paid off when they noticed a man matching the description exit from 1622 President Street, and snapped a picture. Minutes later the identity was confirmed as the same man.
As the man was no longer outside, the 71st Precinct was informed of the incident which will undoubtedly be investigated.
