My friend Hilary says “we are perfect,Whole, and Complete exactly as we are and exactly as we are not” yesterday a sweet femme asked me how I came to be so brave. I told them an answer spelled out in what not to do’s. I realized when talking with them how much of my life has been actualized by living in opposition or resistance to an idea or construct. Someone told me to be silent and I learned to speak, they said I am stupid so I became informed, they said I was poor I learned to speak privilege so well people forget where I came from, they called me hideous so I redefined beauty, they sought to make me small called me their grounding so I learned to fly. My life has been a blessing built on opposition. These days I enculturate children and families. I seek to understand how possibility becomes interstitial. As I do this with families I also do it with myself. I consider what it would look like to live with varied levels of agency. Im curious when you came into your yes.
