˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ you do not need a new face you need a face card routine ˚。⋆ ♡༘˚

there is nothing wrong with wanting to look prettier. i think sometimes we get so deep into staring at our faces, comparing little details, saving pretty girl after pretty girl, that we start thinking the answer has to be a completely different face.
but most of the time? you do not need a new face. you need a little routine that makes your face look awake, soft, clean, glossy, and loved on.
the girls with the face cards are usually not doing twenty confusing things at once. they just know their little details. they know which brow shape makes their eyes look lifted. they know their lip combo. they know whether gold makes them glow or makes them look slightly unwell. they sleep. they moisturize. they stop wearing colors that drain the life out of their face.
it is very unglamorous, but it is also very fixable. ♡
‧₊˚ ୨୧ the skin is the entire mood
you cannot concealer your way out of skin that is thirsty, irritated, or never given a chance to rest. you do not need a twelve-step bathroom-counter situation either. the prettiest skin is usually just calm skin with a little bounce to it.
your basic face card skincare routine:
♡ cleanse at night, especially if you wore makeup, sunscreen, or spent the day touching your face. go gentle. your cleanser does not need to leave your skin feeling squeaky, that is usually your skin begging for mercy.
♡ moisturize every single day. even oily girls need moisture. when skin is dry underneath, makeup clings weirdly, texture looks louder, and your face starts looking dull by lunchtime.
♡ sunscreen in the morning. i know, i know. but protecting your skin from sun damage helps so much with uneven tone and stubborn little marks, which means you eventually need less makeup to feel polished.
♡ pick one concern to work on instead of throwing every active ingredient in existence at your face. breakouts, texture, dark marks, dryness, choose the thing that bothers you most and give it time. pretty routines are boringly consistent.
♡ do not punish a breakout. skip picking, use a pimple patch if that helps you leave it alone, and let your skin heal. a spot lasts much longer when it becomes a little excavation site, unfortunately.
a little concealer around the eyes and mouth, and cream products on top of hydrated skin? genuinely so much prettier than trying to cover every centimeter.
‧₊˚ ୨୧ your brows introduce your whole face
i have a very strong opinion about brows: they should look like they belong to you. not like two sharp little stickers that arrived before the rest of your face did.
the goal is soft, groomed, slightly lifted brows. brush them upward and outward, fill the sparse spots with tiny hair-like strokes, then keep the front lighter than the tail. a brow that is too dark at the front can make your whole expression look harder than it actually is.
a tiny face card map:
♡ the inner brow should begin around the side of your nostril.
♡ the little arch should happen around two-thirds of the way through, not right in the middle, unless that is naturally your shape.
♡ the tail should travel outward, not droop dramatically down. a softly lifted tail makes the eyes look brighter and more awake.
if you are always rushing, getting them shaped or tinted by someone whose work you genuinely like can make your everyday face feel done before you even touch makeup. bring reference photos, but also let them work with your actual bone structure. your best brows might not be the brows you saved from a girl with a completely different face, and that is okay.
‧₊˚ ୨୧ lip gloss is a tiny personality transplant
there is something about a hydrated glossy lip that makes a bare face look intentional. you could be in a hoodie, hair in a clip, no makeup on, and suddenly you have brown liner and clear gloss on? different girl. she has errands. she has secrets. she probably smells good.
find a lip combo you can do with your eyes half closed.
for soft vixen pretty, i would start here:
♡ a brown, rose-brown, or cocoa liner that is close to the natural shadow around your lips, not necessarily the darkest brown pencil you can find.
♡ a nude pink, caramel, peach, or mauve in the center if you want a little more color.
♡ a shiny gloss or lip oil over everything, especially in the center of the bottom lip.
you only need to overline a little, if at all. keep it mostly at the cupid’s bow and the center of the bottom lip. when you trace a huge new outline around your entire mouth, it tends to look obvious in real life and photographs in a slightly sad way. we are enhancing, not doing architectural renovations.
also, lip balm at night. exfoliate gently only when you actually have flakes. cracked lips plus six layers of matte lipstick is not the feminine struggle aesthetic we are going for.
‧₊˚ ୨୧ sleep makes your face look more expensive
this is the least exciting answer and maybe the most noticeable one. when you are running on no sleep, it shows up everywhere: under-eyes, puffiness, dry lips, dull skin, a short temper, that strange “why does every makeup look look wrong today?” feeling.
you do not need to become a 5 a.m. wellness girl with lemon water in a glass jar. just make sleep feel like part of your beauty routine.
wash your face. put your lip balm on. moisturize your hands. put your hair up in something that will not snap it off. dim the room. get off your phone a little earlier when you can.
a rested face photographs differently. it moves differently. you look more like yourself.
‧₊˚ ୨୧ water is not magic, but being dehydrated is very rude to your face
drinking water will not suddenly erase texture, change your nose, or give you a brand-new jawline by tuesday. i hate when beauty advice makes hydration sound like a magical personality trait.
but when you are dehydrated, your lips can look drier, your skin can look less fresh, and you may feel generally blah. keep a water bottle near you, sip through the day, and eat real meals too. fruit, vegetables, protein, carbs, little things that make your body feel supported instead of surviving on iced coffee and vibes.
‧₊˚ ୨୧ knowing your colors is basically cheating
some colors make your eyes brighter, your skin warmer, your lips more defined, and your whole face look like it has a candlelit filter. some colors make you look like you have been standing under office lights for seven hours. this is important information.
try this in daylight: hold different colors near your face and take little photos.
look at:
♡ crisp white versus cream♡ baby pink versus dusty rose♡ chocolate brown versus cool grey♡ gold jewelry versus silver jewelry♡ warm red versus blue-red♡ peach blush versus berry blush
do not focus on rules like “you are definitely a soft autumn princess moonbeam” because those systems can get weirdly strict. just pay attention. which shades make your skin look even and alive? which ones make your under-eyes look darker or your complexion look flat?
once you know, build a tiny pretty-girl uniform around those colors: your blush, lip liner, favorite tops, jewelry, nail polish, even your hair color if you dye it. having a palette makes you look more intentional before you have even done anything dramatic.
‧₊˚ ୨୧ your little face card routine
for the everyday days when you want to look like yourself, just prettier:
♡ skincare + sunscreen♡ brushed, softly filled brows♡ concealer only where you need it♡ a warm cream blush or bronzer placed high on the cheeks♡ curled lashes or a light outer-corner lash♡ your signature liner + gloss♡ earrings, a cute hairstyle, and a color that loves your skin
that is it. no new face required.
the prettiest thing you can do is become familiar with your own face. learn it when it is bare, when it is happy, when it is sleepy, when it is glowing, when a certain blush placement makes you go ohhhh wait… there she is.
because she was always there, babe. you just needed a routine. ♡
— tiny vixen note: this week, pick one detail to become known for. your glossy lips, your brows, your gold hoops, your soft pink blush, let it become your little thing.
