I think there are a couple people in the fandom forgetting that Louis is an unreliable narrator

I’m not going to excuse or defend Lestats actions he did some fucked up shit but we can’t quite be sure how good or bad lestat was because Louis isn’t trustworthy he has spent the last 77 years thinking the man he loves is responsible for the death of their daughter, that he wanted him dead too, so half his story could be downplaying or exaggerating some of Lestats actions. It also seems that he is downplaying HIS role, HIS actions surrounding the entire story especially when it comes to Claudia. None of them are reliable narrators, Lestats usual lying and manipulating of Louis, wether it be something small like letting him try to walk home in the sun knowing it would hurt him or helping contribute to isolating him by never defending Louis from racists so Louis will lash out (he gladly humbles homophobes) makes him just as unreliable. Finally my love, Claudia’s perspective is told from her diary where she isn’t stating fact for readers she is expressing herself and her feeling on her experiences in a cathartic way, showing how she is still being violated and used by the people claiming to love her more than anything even in death.

The only definitive fact about Lestat is he loves Louis and Louis loves Lestat in their own weird, toxic, abusive, messy way and they dont think about who they hurt including each other
