SKETCH - Thankful Thursday
If you haven’t heard of this awesome group, it’s time to check out SKETCH! sketchtoronto
I found out about SKETCH when a group of four youth presented a very powerful skit at a workshop I attended. This organization has been building up youth and community for 19 years and provides creative training initiatives for street-involved youth aged 16-29.
Check them out and spread the word. Want to donate? Learn more? Get involved? http://sketch.ca/donate/
(I grabbed this photo from their website - this photo is from their last Open House on March 12 http://sketch.ca/?gallery=sketch-open-studio-showcase)
Join CAMH on May 29th for their Darkness to Light campaign to help raise money to end mental illness. Participate by staying up all night on the 29th or sponsor someone who is!
Ending stigma for those experiencing mental illness is really important to me and places like CAMH are vital in addressing stigma and supporting those living with mental illness.
Thankful Thursdays
I love to shop local but I also like to give local. There are lots of great charities/non-profits in Toronto that add so much value to our amazing community. I have had the privilege of working with and even working for a number of these organizations and the support they receive from donations is often critical to their operations.
Each Thursday, I will be featuring a local charity/non-profit based in Toronto. I will do my best to research these charities, but please do your own homework too! If it’s the right fit for you, maybe “shop local” with them too! I’ll continue to feature other #shoplocalTO items and stores throughout the week.
