Characters I keep forgetting are short until I see them standing next to everyone else with their 5'3" ass and I literally spit out my orange juice
Dark, brooding, cute characters sell well always
Which means there should be no problem if they're different shapes and sizes
Levi and Historia screenshot parallels. Just comparing screenshots of my favourite SNK characters. I just noticed they have a lot of similar moments and expressions. The last one was just for fun though...
Writing short characters
Everyone else: I'm getting tired of short female protagonists! Not everyone can be short!
Me, who is literally 5' 2" and will not grow anymore: Well, I don't know how to be tall. I have to get a stepstool to get a plate for a microwave burrito. My character will be short if I so please.
short people stuff for writing your tiny been accuratelly
unless your character is emotionally unstable the constant flipouts about the remarks about their hight are extremely rare; after some time you just get used to it
also most people don’t start conversations with “WOW, why did you leave Shire? LOL!” everybody can see that your charracter is no NBA player, mentioning it like that is inapropriate and unwanted unless the tall charracter is an absolute dick
trouble with high supermarket shelves are rare. happened to me only once.
mirrors are more problematic. sometimes all i can see is my forehead
constant tiptoing and tripping over stuff besause of that
curvy, short women do not shop in children section
short people decorate their houses so that they don’t need any help. that means I can reach every kitchen utensil without anyone’s help and i clean all my shelves by myself
wearing someones clothes is near imposible
fixing ALL of your trousers because they are too long
not all short people have tiny feet
troubles with knee high shoes, because your calf is lower than average (extremely frustrating)
someone putting their chin on the top of your head can be painfull you guys
not everyone likes high difference (sometimes it’s just too intimidating)
we do not get mistaken for children on daily basis
our size does not have that big effect on our personality
and most importantly... Short is aproximately below 155 cm (5′1″) for a woman and below 166 cm (5′5″) for a man
Ways to write short characters that stand out but aren’t just obnoxious comic reliefs or angry (especially short guys who are either portrayed as overly compensating or invisible):
1. Dynamic poses and gestures
2. Charming and confident in their fields or toward S/O’s
3. Ambitious toward their goals
4. Determined and ardent from compact energy
5. Friend to fellow underdogs
6. Energy for lighthearted hijinks or obstacles
rant tw
imma need ya'all to level with me here
Ok?
Why is it that every time a character that is either, a.) happy and cheery, or b.) short (like 5'0 and under short. Or is under 5'2 and under short?), y'all infalitize them?
Like why can't an adult character be bubby and bright? Why do adults have to be miserable to be treated like an adult?
Why is pessimism, grittyness, and over all melancholy associated with adulthood?
Why must happiness and optimism only be for children?
And why can't adults be under 5'5/6'0, huh?
Also, also
Y'all know tall teenagers exist right?
Like not every tall person is an adult
Let short adults be bright and bubbly
Let adults be bright and bubbly, and full of hope and optimism
Don't infalitize adults who are short and optimistic.
