Laughter Riot : Don Quixote
Its been so long since I watched a drama that made me laughed so much. This drama reminded me of the 2000s Jdrama classics and is probably one of the last Jdramas of its time to have the essence of those dramas within it(you will know what I am talking about when you watch it). Although I am not a huge fan of body swap dramas, this drama really stole my heart. I started watching this only for Shota and ended up falling in love with the enitre cast, even the supporting characters were all so lovely. The interactions between Shirota and Sabashima Jin was truly gold and they way each of them had to handle the situations they were put in was hilarious.
Takahashi Katsumi was so convincing in his role as Shirota, a nervous young child centre worker and Shota Matsuda emboldened the yakuza spirit, accent and mannerisms of Sabhashim so well that they convinced me until the very end that the they were really swapped. The encounters between Sabhashima and Shirota, random salsa dances, yakuza crossovers were some of the best things about this drama. Every episode dealt with a serious and novel child care issue such as Hikikimori, truancy, etc which were so beautfully presented and explained in a light hearted way while making sure that the message through each episode reached the audiences. Watching Shota smile with all his teeth is probably the cutest thing about this drama that melted me so much and the genuineness of Shirota’s spirit in Sabashima jin touches your heart. I really miss watchig such genres in jdrama and this drama is going to remain one of my most favorite jdramas. I hope to rewatch this again and again. I will truly miss this drama now that It has come to an end.
