[English below] St. Louis ist eine französische Gemeinde und neben Lörrach, Weil am Rhein und Huningue eine der direkten Nichtschweizer Nachbarstädte von Basel. Der elsässische Ort hat rund 20 000 Einwohner. 1679 befahl Ludwig XIV den Bau der Festung Hüningen im Rahmen der oberrheinischen Expansionspolitik. Die Bewohner des dort befindlichen Fischerdorfs wurden u. a. an die Straße Basel-Paris umgesiedelt, im Bereich des heutigen Stadtkerns von St. Louis. Namensgeber ist aber nicht der "Sonnenkönig", sondern sein Vorgänger, der heiliggesprochene Ludwig IX. Manche der Gebäude stammen aus dem 19. Jh. . Hôtel d'Europe, St. Louis, Haut-Rhin, France. St. Louis is a french county and along Lörrach, Weil am Rhein and Huningue one of the nonswiss direct neighboring cities of Basel. Inhabitants of the little fisherman village were relocated to the street between Basel an Paris, where St. Louis town center is today. The little red fishing boat - On the leg from Brest to Concarneau we made our first stop at #Landévennec.
