Please, if you live on a busy street do people a favor and shovel your side walks. It doesn't have to be the entire side walk... but when you're someone who has to get somewhere it makes things more dangerous and difficult to get to where you need to go.
I had to ride my bike to get to a psychiatrist meeting today and a good portion of the way was very dangerous due to side walks that were not shoveled. I don't have a car right now, and it doesn't make sense to take the bus to get there. (It also costs more money that I don't have.) I'm poor so despite it being the middle of winter in Massachusetts I have to ride my bike to get to places. This means that hitting your side walks that are icy or neglected can result in me either having to get off of my bike (and thus possibly making me late and my feet wet) or struggling to maneuver over heavily packed bumpy snow.
Please be kind to those who are less fortunate than you and shovel your side walks. If you don't have a shovel it doesn't cost much to get one. If you're not physically fit enough to do so then that's a bit of a different story, but I'm sure you know someone who could do it for you. Please be aware that your side walk is also public property too. You're not the only one using it, and if you live on a busy street it's not safe for people to walk or ride their bike in the street to avoid your sidewalk.
