I have yet to go in deeper research (and am not sorry for spending my time on it), but as far as I have my ship together Magnus only initiated their kisses less than a handful of times. It's almost always Alec who leans forward, or just *grabs* him and drags him to kissing heaven.

The few times Magnus is the one reaching forward for Alecs lips?

When Magnus wants to sidetrack Alec from asking him about his sleeping habits (not sleeping at all) and Magnus imitates Alec's snoring. Cute, but I see what you did there. (2x15)

When Alec lays his heart out to Magnus after their "Either you or the downworld"-breakup at the back street of the party place – and Magnus is the one to decide whether they get back together or not. He's hesitant until the end, but their kiss makes up for everything. (2x20)

The saddest one: When Alec breaks up with Magnus INSTEAD OF PROPOSING TO HIM, Magnus begs with all he has left – not much in his opinion, but at least he could try to kiss Alec to change his mind (I'm not sobbing, you are … I'm simply crying my eyes out). (3x18)

After reading this wonderful post below, I'm convinced that Alec, once he finally stood ground for himself and opened up about his true self, discovers that his love language is physical touch, no matter what.

Magnus on the other side, after he closed his heart for so long, is so vulnerable and tentative, his love speaks through words of affirmation and acts of service. He always let's take Alec the lead, so Alec never feels rushed or pushed into something he is not ready for.

And I think the consistency of this behaviour is so well done from both of them and so heartwarming and I can't even describe how I feel right now.

People who have the nerve to call book!Alec biphobic need to shut the fuck up.

Alec in CoLS wasn't acting the way he did because Magnus had been with both men and women. He wasn't ever accusing him of being a slut (or when he was it wasn't because he was bi).

He was acting that way because he felt like he was insignificant to Magnus and was hurt that Magnus wouldn't tell him anything. That Magnus didn't trust him.

Acting petty and jealous is a completely normal reaction to this situation.

Magnus on the other hand was afraid that once Alec learned all his dark past, he would leave him. Alec is a shadowhunter, child of the glorious angels while Magnus is the son of the scum of the earth (and one of the worst demons there is).

Magnus loved Alec in a way that was different from all his previous lovers. He didn't want to drive him away. He didn't want Alec Lightwood breaking his heart.

Their problem wasn't Alec was biphobic, it was they couldn't communicate. They both had spent their entire lives hiding apart of themselves away from the world and unaccustomed to pouring their hearts out.

Ironically, the people who are calling Alec biphobic haven't actually read the books (I've seen some of them say as much). They just take quotes out of context to prove their points (which is so very problematic).

I personally like both the show and books but book!malec is more realistic. In the show they almost never fight or disagree and Alec simply just accepts Magnus has a past of an undetermined number of lovers. It's apart of human nature to be curious about things, even when it can be disastrous if you don't talk about it.

Quit being bitches to the books.

Honestly, though.....you can complain about whatever you want on the show, I'm not going to stop you, but book!Malec is fucking NOTHING compared to show!Malec, and I am so happy that that's a fact. Just wanted to let everyone know that no matter what issues you have with the show, appreciate how incredible Malec is, especially since it was born from the ashes of the utter mess the books left us with, okay? Thanks ☺️
