I have a favorite moment in Murderbot, e4, and to no one's surprise it concerns Ratthi.
I really like the "you're being macho. It's disgusting"--"you're both wonderful people" exchange. It's a fantastically built moment.
First, with how Ratthi--even riled up, confused, and waving around that gun in the stupidest way possible--handles the accusation. Pin-Lee bursts out with telling him, basically, "You're being reckless in a stupid, gendered way", and Ratthi just forces out a "you're both wonderful people", which in this context means primarily "I'm still me, still a Preservation person through and through... But I think this needs to be done, and I am doing this." Having enough presence of mind to code-switch rather than double-down is a wonderful piece of characterization for Ratthi.
Second, in doing this, he's being the inspiration for the other two to get moving, because he may be the least competent member of the team by far--but also something needs to be done, and if the more competent people won't do it, he will. And the best part of this bait-and-switch is that this is, stereotypically, a female-gendered role. When the Damsel in Distress shames the Big Strong Men into acting because if she's willing to put herself into danger--what's wrong with them? Which, transposed with Pin-Lee's accusation, is just... chef's kiss
