My School President: I finally caved and watched the first four episodes of this. It is delightful. The friend group is the definition of one braincell and no one is using it, the romance is delightful, I love the POV switches between episodes and both the leads being stupid over each other is just what I like. It hasn’t quite hooked me like Bad Buddy, mostly because I need just a little extra conflict (external or internal), but the potential is definitely there.
Between Us: Mmmm, past trauma, literal sleeping together, all the friends being delightful and hilarious and we get to see Win’s heart break again in real time! Seriously that whole hallway scene is just an exercise in watching Win just go ‘screw fear, Team was hurting and I wasn’t there’. Five episodes left and I really hope they stick the landing, but so far I adore it.
GAP the series: God, this series is pretty. The clothes, the people, the surroundings. They really went colourful for everything and I adore it. I was not expecting Mon to also seemingly be oblivious to her growing feelings for Sam (Sam I absolutely expected). I continue to not like Nop at all and love how Mon stood up to him and how she didn’t apologise or make excuses. Also kiss!
On a small note, I do appreciate a series which gives an explanation on why they go to sleep with the light on.
New Life Begins: I’m on Ep 34 now and continue to love it. I suddenly found myself really shipping Hao Jia and Zhao Fangru so I was sad to see the latter go. Yuan Ying also left the main cast and so that was sad as well, though they gave her a delightful send-off (and continued to play it like Li Wei was the one both Yuan Ying and Yin Zheng were in love with). I still absolutely love this show and unless they do something drastic in the last six episodes, I think it’ll be a new favourite.
Song Names (concepts)
Act 1: -Fired (the beginning song where they both run out of the police station singing about getting fired - thrilling, I know.) -Trying to Make It (a slow song, them going from job to job, not being able to pay bills or work efficiently, which leads to them getting fired from every job they own. The visuals would be them knocking on doors, entering, and walking out seconds later most likely.) -The Only Solution (David tells Nancy what they can do, which is rob houses for money; the starting point for basically everything that goes down.) -Another Day at Work (the funny song that’s bouncy and happy while it shows them robbing houses and pick pocketing) -Repetition (Nancy is worrying if they’ll ever get caught, David assures her that “repetition is good, it’s a cycle.”) -Going Deeper (It shows David’s thought process slowly going darker and darker, the end is him thinking of the “perfect crime”) -The Perfect Crime (act 1 finale, David murders the police chief without Nancy knowing and is caught immediately; when Nancy gets to the apartment at the end she sees David being taken away by the police)
Act 2: -Interrogation Pt. 1 (extremely fast-paced, the cops ask questions and David immediately responds and they fire back with another right after, this goes on for the entire song.) -What Were You Thinking? (Nancy visits David, through the phone communication thing they have in prisons, and she’s asking him the same question over and over while he tries to explain; he has really bad excuses) -The Perfect Crime reprise (David begs for forgiveness, it’s him in his cell saying he’s sorry) -Interrogation Pt. 2 (fast-paced yet again, and then they ask him if he had a partner. time slows and he sings softly about how he’s not sure. he only sings to himself, the cops don’t hear this ofc) -Choices (Nancy sings about the choices she has to make. Staying and turning herself in so she isn’t lonely, or leaving to move on) -Remember Me (David telling Nancy if she leaves, to remember him, emotional) -The Final Decision (the finale, Nancy makes her decision)
((In a Moment has most likely been scrapped))
The Base
This post is only meant to serve as the starting point for this show. This is not the full thought out version yet. Until the official release of the show, this blog is only meant to organize the thoughts/lines of dialogue/lyrics for this show. The main idea for the show is:
“Two forensic scientists are fired from their jobs, so in order to have a source of income, they begin committing crimes. They release that with their knowledge of what the police can do and how to hide their tracks, they can get away with virtually anything. Everything goes smoothly until one of the scientists becomes obsessed with the thought of committing crime. Because of the scientist’s insatiable need to commit crimes, they are caught. The end of the show is the other scientist deciding whether to stay with them or run away to safety.”
Hopefully this show goes farther than just a few ideas!
Name Change!
The show has left the horrible, horrible name of Forensics: The Musical, to The Perfect Crime. This may be changed in the future, but for now this is what it’s called
More of In a Moment
If it’s the Act 2 beginning, here would be the idea for it:
In a Moment: Nancy sees David being captured and she spends the entire song debating what she should do. Very fast-paced, like in Falsettos when Trina sings “chop chop chop chop chop I chopped it”
In a Moment (Reprise): Nancy makes her decision, and David is singing parts of Remember Me as a final attempt.
Act 2 Ideas
A thought, which may not make it, but I kind of like it:
Act 1 ended with them being caught, and Act 2 is Nancy making her decision with bits of David begging her in between.
Song name ideas: (since I can’t write lyrics for my life)
*In a moment: The final decision; Nancy singing about what could happen in a moment. (It could also be the Act 2 beginning, but at the end Nancy can’t make the decision and time goes slower, giving her time to pick. In this version it would be fast-paced.)
*Don’t forget me/Remember me: David singing to Nancy, trying to convince her to stay with him. Throughout the song he says “remember me?” or “don’t forget me” (not sure yet) because he’s trying to spark up an old memory. He’s singing about the past events of the musical, and all they’ve done.
