I went to Portland & all I got was only— MY FIRST TATTOO 😎💁🏻♀️ LEFT WRIST: my mother’s maiden name “Choi (pronounced “Chaeh”)— top in Korean, bottom in Hanja (Chinese characters) RIGHT WRIST: my family name (Dad) “Ko”— top in Korean, bottom in Hanja TOGETHER: I am fully my mother & I am fully my father. The Choi & Ko family bloodlines both run equally through my veins. And as my cousin in Korea @blueskylar pointed out, “Choi” & “Ko” put together sound like the Korean word for “The Best”. (Pronounced “Chaeh-go”) Shoutout of thanks to my #HenryVOSF #Showbae @daneemoh for first suggesting getting tattoos in Portland— thereby leading me to conjure this idea that means so much to me— picking the parlour, talking me through it, & recording the process for me (in my instastory) all as he was lying down on the table next to me with his own arm getting carved up! Huge thanks also to my tattoo artist (also named Dan!) at the awesome @skeletonkeytattoo for being so reassuring & calming, meticulously transferring & re-sizing the characters I wrote out & patiently re-doing the stencil multiple times until it was placed exactly how I wanted it.
