Here's some of my tips if you're struggling with hygiene and can't shower as often as you want/need to, for whatever reasons:
Putting cleaning wipes, deodorant and lotion in reach of your bed
putting baby wipes in reach of the toilet
Breaking up tasks and doing them with breaks in between and as much in bed/sitting down as you can. For example i can brush my teeth more often if i wash my face not in the sink but in bed
Baby wipes, makeup wipes, disposable wash cloths, disposable toothbrushes, etc. exist to help. Use them if you can and don't be afraid to create trash
If anyone else has something to add to this please do!
dysphoria culture is having a love-hate relationship with showers. On one hand you're getting clean and it's warm, but on the other hand, it reminds you of your body
Dysphoric culture is!
Also, do you shower in the dark/low light? Maybe that would help? Mod hates showers completely (sensory issues + dysphoria is a bad combo) and has that multiple-use soap and a towel/baggy clothes ready to make them go quicker if that helps!
An interesting shower tip 🚿🧼🚿🧼
I use my loofah as a tool to remove negative energy! I haven’t heard of anyone else doing this, but basically whenever I shower, I picture in my head being covered in risidual energy from the day that I don’t want attached to me, and then I use my loofah to wipe it all away. You can even repeat a mantra to yourself, like “I am clean and pure”, or whatever you would like. The most important part of this is when you are done, make sure to wring out your loofah. You can also repeat any phrase that you would like, or you can wring it out a certain number of times under the water until you feel like you’ve cleared out all of the negative/risidual energy.
I hope this can be a help to somebody ✨💜
I've just finished sewing and decorating a soap pouch! I reused an old matherial found in my house, a cotton yarn and two wooden beads. I tried to embroider something similar to spruce branches and I actually like the final look of the little bag! 🌲
I bought a soap that is really big, but it still fits. Normally I buy much smaller bars. Oh, and I have a great news! I'm looking forward to making my own soap!
If you don't use bar soaps on a daily basis, please consider buying it or making it at home. It's significant to quit using plastic packaging or reducing it.
getting to know someone is like figuring out a new shower. when you turn the knobs a little bit and the water starts getting too hot, change the topic. when the water pressures too high, maybe give them a bit of space. when the shower starts filling up with blood and spouting out a mass of disembodied tentacles instead of water and creating a pentagram with bubbles and steam, a dark and ominous vortex sucking in your shampoo and peeling off your skin due to the scalding heat, chanting rising from the infinite spiral of nothingness and filling the cramped shower with echoes as the sleeper of r'lyeh emerges and demands a sacrifice, maybe you should turn off the shower and calmly walk away
Rejuvenating Night Routine🌙✨💖
: I love to dedicate Sunday nights to my skin and hair~ here's what I like to do♡
• Hair Treatment: usually with natural organic coconut oil, massage my scalp and wrapped in a high bun~ leave in as long as possible~
•Take a contrast shower: I love to let the hot water open my pores and wash out the oil from my hair, exfoliate the body and finish with cold water! (Don't force yourself to any temperatures you can't handle!)
• After showering make sure to moisturize skin and hair: Again with the coconut oil I like to rub it on my body, and for my hair while it's damp I like to use hair oils to keep my hair soft♡
• Face care: Honestly after I steamed my face from the shower I like to use serums, face gel masks and emulsions as well as undereye cream since I want my face to stay tight and clean; but feel free to use whatever is good for your own skin!! Everyone has different type of skin!!
•Relax and enjoy yourself: I like to do little things like massage my face, do my nails, brush teeth, floss, and anything else to make you feel recharge for your week ahead!!
do you have any information on towel baths and washing your hair without an actual shower? i have chronic fatigue, and normal showers take it out of me, and i feel like they dont get me as clean as a towel bath because im actually scrubbing every inch of myself thoroughly
Man, what happenstance. I literally just got a package of body wash towel things for my mom. The Stryker Sage Essential Bath Washcloths. They're like wet wipes for the whole body and they contain some cleansers. I would assume it's something like micellar water where it is cleansers in it that you don't need to rinse off. Letting you know in case that's something you wanna try. But if just a towel is working for you, that's great. Actually, you might just be able to use micellar water and a towel too.
There are also things called no rinse shampoos. The one I was looking at was the clean life no rinse shampoo. Apparently they work by bringing dirt and oil to the surface of the lather and then you can towel it right off. I've never used them on myself or anyone, so I don't know how well they work. But it can be something to look into.
And I don't know what specifically is most exhausting for you, but if you don't already have one and want to do the shower thing every once in a while, I highly recommend getting a bath chair. There are ones with no arms and ones with arms, depending what works best for you. But my mom uses one and it majorly helps with fatigue so she can comfortably take her time to shower.
Hopefully some of that helps you!
