Monsta X’s Find You MV: An Analysis

I have kinda watched Find You MV religiously and the universe knows I ship Shownu and Hyungwon since it had been released, so I squinted my eyes very very closely that I found several things that can support my headcanons. ( ✧≖ ͜ʖ≖)

For disclaimer, this so-called analysis is just for fun and only meant to indulge my delulu brain that reads too much between the lines. And obviously this is just my headcanons and interpretations, so I hope people would be able to have some fun as well. (●´艸｀)ヾ

The first thing I noticed from the MV is when Hyungwon was alone at home after the accident and his friends visited him together. There was a scene where Shownu was shown in one window, while the other five members were shown in the door’s one. It was so remarkable to me that I began to think, why should Shownu be the one in there?

True, it might just be a script’s doing and that it held no meaning whatsoever for the entirety of this trilogy. But I’d like to think that the scene symbolizes something.

Hyungwon was miserable after his parents’ death and he was at his home by himself. The house itself might resemble Hyungwon’s heart, indicating that he didn’t accept just anyone’s sympathy other than his friends’. And Shownu just happened to be in that one particular window.

This tiny special place for Shownu might imply that the older got Hyungwon’s attention the most. Meaning that they might be close, or even closer compared to the others.

The second thing I noticed was when Shownu circled his arms around Hyungwon’s shoulder. It was brief, and Hyungwon was surrounded by the others. It could just be anyone who did that, but no, Shownu was the one who had physical contact with him—which indicates that Hyungwon let Shownu to be as close to him as possible, literally and figuratively.

This headcanon was kinda supported again by another scene where Hyungwon woke up before vanishing. He slept beside Shownu, of all people. And when he regained his consciousness, he looked around before his eyes laid on the older. The camera even zoomed in his face, that it can imply Hyungwon’s concern towards the older. Either because Hyungwon was afraid he wasn’t there when Shownu woke up, or because he was worried something might happen to him. Either way, sleeping next to each other plus looking at his face after waking up are other signs that they might be close.

After Hyungwon vanished, the one who called him was Shownu. It might be really simple and in that frenzy of a moment, everyone already had their own tasks to find Hyungwon. Still, the fact that Shownu was chosen to call him first might indicate that the one Hyungwon would respond to was most likely Shownu. They might contact each other a lot, or at least Hyungwon was very open to him. Thus leading to Shownu being chosen as the one to call him, in the hope that the younger would immediately answer. (´uωu`)

The very last scenes showed the members in the other timelines, being sad and mostly lonely and vulnerable. However, Shownu in the end was the only one who brought a “weapon” a.k.a the fire lighter, an element that counteracts water... something that might save Hyungwon. After all, he was the one who brought something with himself that could destroy or even save Hyungwon’s state.

I know this might sound very delulu and that’s not the point of the MV, anyway. But I really love indulging myself by making headcanons of my OTP and taking scraps of the MV as it kinda brings more imagination about this trilogy. :")
