With starting a new job in a different city I will soon be looking to move closer to work. In anticipation of this I moved all the stuff I had in storage locally to a new facility roughly closer to where I will eventually end up. So today I enlisted my parents and my brother to assist me in that big move. It took two trips, a lot of traffic, some cursing, and massive exhaustion all around, but we eventually got everything moved and settled. After everything was locked back up on top of simply saying thank you I took everyone out to the Mandarin restaurant for some lunch/supper to show my appreciation for the assistance. So we took the time to sit and chat, while refueling and recovering from the ordeal, until it was time to get back on the road and head for home. Today’s random act of kindness: showing appreciation for the hard work of others.

After putting off some much needed car repairs for months I finally bought some of the parts and got my brother to stall them. Part of our agreement is that if I buy the parts he will do the work, but I always give him some kind of small payment for his efforts. Previous times I have gotten him gift cards or taken him our for dinner, however with just sinking a hefty amount of money into the car I didn’t have anything left to buy him something so tonight I invited him over for dinner. So I made homemade lasagna and we had a family dinner with our parents for the remainder of the evening. Today’s random act of kindness: showing appreciation for someone’s efforts.

This morning I decided to go do some volunteering at my old middle school. This is something that I do on an occasional day off. While I’m there I usually do my work in the library where there is a crew of students that take care of the maintenance and decorating for the room. As I am in a few times a year I get to know the kids a bit and decided to bring them a treat for their hard work. So this morning on my way to the school I stopped off at Tim Horton’s and got a dozen cookies. The kids were quite surprised and very thankful for the thought. Today’s random act of kindness: showing appreciation for the hard work of others.

After just coming back from taking some vacation time at work I decided I wanted to ease back into things. Although this week I was supposed to have a full week of work I decided to give a shift away in order to cut back a little. Looking through the schedule I found a girl who had covered some of my shifts before, who I knew had helped me out in the past and would appreciate the extra hours given the recent shortage. So I asked her if she would want the shift and told her I’d prefer to give it to her as she’s helped me out in the past, she was happy to take it. Today’s random act of kindness: sharing the hours.
Officially making some progress, only down 1 random act now. The opportunities seem to be abounding themselves now. With nearing the end of the second month of the new year I hope that everyone is keeping up with their resolutions and goals. If not, remember it’s never too late to get back on track. :)
I hope that everyone is enjoying the nicer weather as Spring does seem to be creeping it’s way in. With any luck we have seen the last of the snow! (or at least I, personally hope).
