The assignment was easy: write about happiness. She knew what that was almost immediately.

Tell me about happiness.
Happiness is a beautiful thing. Like when the sun shines over the city below on a beautiful summer day. Or when the snow covers the land for the very first time. Happiness is love - a love so beautiful that it’ll last until their dying breath.
Happiness is a light at the end of a dark road. A road that held too many bumps and almost seemed impossible to leave, but then the light at the end – so bright it could almost be blinding - changed that. But once you accept it, you no longer have to worry about being cold because the warmth of the light is enough.
Happiness was love.
Love. Love is compassion. Knowing you are in love is beautiful. Like when you finally open your eyes for the first time. Having someone understand your weaknesses and strengths. Love is...odd. Putting trust in someone often comes at a cost. Could it be a cost of happiness? Perhaps trust? But if there is no trust, love is just a hanging word of nothingness. Almost meaningless.
Love is a word that one doesn’t just say randomly. “I love this” or “I love that” is such a common thing to say. Someone is telling the other what they are compassionate about. Love. Telling someone you love them is like taking the next step in life.
Happiness is commitment.
Being committed to someone is a big step. Being committed is feeling the same amount of love the other feels for you. A ten-letter word that might mean nothing to someone might mean the world to another. Will you be ready for this step? Who knows?
Taking a step like this can often lead to disasters, but oftentimes it leads to something so beautiful.
Happiness is beautiful.
Whoever says they don’t enjoy being happy is simply a liar. Happiness is an antidote. It heals whatever pain that boils inside of them. Who doesn’t want to be happy? To live in a world where they have someone they can rely on. They would be foolish to not want at least one person they can trust.
What brings you happiness?
So, when I’m asked: “What makes you happy? What brings you happiness?” It isn’t amazing food or the ability to travel around for my soon to be career. No. What makes me happy is him. The person who accepts me for who I am. Who loves me for my random qualities.
The person who could last days without a single call or text from me. The person who could go months without a single hug from me and look at me when I come home like I never left. The same amount of love he had for me when I left.
Happiness goes both ways. Happiness lasts a million miles apart with only so much communication. Happiness leads to love. And love leads to everything else. Love is when two people love each other, no matter the gender. Love is perfect.
So, when I’m asked that sentence, “What makes you happy?” I can gladly say my boyfriend does. The only person I can see myself spending the rest of my life with. And I hope he sees me the same way.
Despite it all, Hyunwoo knows to never let her go while a storm is brewing.

She knew deep down that she’d be fast asleep if it wasn’t for the roaring thunder that crackled on outside the bedroom window causing her to jump. She took a deep breath, trying to enjoy how cute her boyfriend looked while he was lost in dreamland. But the sound of the thunder echoing through the bedroom had her jump, her body snuggling into the bed more. How Hyunwoo was still asleep was beyond her at this point.
"Hyunwoo?" She called out softly, no longer wanting to be alone anymore. Another loud thunder rang out and a squeal came from her. This time she shook him lightly, “Hyunwoo wake up I’m scared.”
"I'm scared..." She whispered; afraid he’d be upset that she had woken him up for something so silly. Instead, he scooted towards her wrapping an arm around her body pulling her close.
"Are you scared of the storm?" He asked wanting a better understanding of what she was afraid of. She mumbled a "yes" and he let out a tired sight sitting up. He could now hear the rain hitting the windows harshly, the wind wasn't so friendly either. "It's storming pretty hard huh?" He mumbled watching her sit up.
"Yeah, it's been storming since you fell asleep..."
"You've been dealing with the thunder for..." He looked at the clock and realized it was only 2 am. "5 hours now? How come you didn't wake me?"
"I knew you had a busy day tomorrow-"
"Busy day or not you're scared." He wrapped his arms around her pulling her so that now she was sitting on his lip. "And I'll stay up with you until it goes away." Another loud thunder rang out causing herto jump. "It's ok I'm here now."
"Thanks, Hyunwoo." She murmured softly into his ear. He chuckled, rubbing soft circles into her back.
"Of course." She shut her eyes, enjoying the warmth he provided. At some point falling asleep. She woke up the next morning with the sun out, Hyunwoo still holding her close to him.
Hi AdminV are you still taking requests? If you are could you do something fluff with Shownu where he is trying to teach you how to dance even do you're clearly not good at dancing? ~💙🦋
“What’s this song called? It’s really catchy.”
Shownu perked up. “It’s ‘Wobble” by V.I.C. You don’t know it?
You shook your head.
“It’s a pretty popular western song. You really never heard of it? There’s a dance and everything.”
“There’s a dance to it?”
He beamed now and stood up. “I’ll teach it to you! It’s so fun.”
Panic enveloped your body. “You know I’m not good at dancing.”
“Trust me.” He pulled you from the couch. “It’s an easy dance. I think you call it a line dance.”
His words didn’t ease the terror in any way. “Shownu, really, it’s okay. I don’t need to know.”
He pouted a little. “You don’t think I can help you?”
Damn him and his sad little pouty lips. You sighed, and he smiled again knowing he won.
“Okay, you’re going to stand right next to me like this.” He made sure you were in line with him. “Now, the beat is 8 counts.” Unfortunately, that meant nothing to you. “So listen.” He played the song and counted, 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8, then started over, 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8.
“The first 4 are the easiest. Jump forward.” He jumped and you followed his lead. “Now, shake your butt 2 3 4.”
You watched him shake but didn’t move. He saw you not move. “You have to move your butt. Like shake your hips.”
You moved them left right left right.
Shownu said your name and raised his eyebrow at you. “I know you know how to move your hips.” He didn’t even try to hide his smirk.
A blush crept on your face. “It’s not the same thing.”
He gave a pointed look. “It really is.” He stood behind you placing his hands on your pelvis. He swayed them like a figure eight. “There, you got it. Let’s start again. 5 6 7 8 go jump, 2 3 4. Good! Try it without me.”
You sighed again. “Shownu, I’m not doing it unless you’re doing it next to me.”
“Okay okay. We’ll do it together.” He counted you off and you did the first 4 counts. “Now, the next 4 we jump back and shake.”
“Seriously?”
“I told you it was easy.” You both started from 1 and on the 5 jumped back and shook your butt like he said. “Nice. Now, the next 8 we slightly face left and shake, then slightly right and shake.” He demonstrated while counting for you but you weren’t listening because his “shaking” was actually him body rolling. He noticed he lost you and paused. “You okay?”
“What the hell was that?”
He looked down at himself then back at you. “What was what?”
You swung your hand in the direction of his hips. “Those were not shaking. Those were pelvic-thrusting.”
He rolled his eyes. “You don’t have to do that. You can shake your hips or roll them in a circle.”
“You didn’t.”
“Do you want to roll them like mine?”
“If I don’t I’ll look dumb standing next to you.”
His hands went on your lower back and tummy. “Okay, it might be a little harder. Picture you want to draw a circle. It starts at the bottom of your butt and pushes forward and up to your belly button, then back around to your butt.” He moved your body with his hands as he explained what to do. He did it a few times with you then asked you to try it.
You noticed he was biting his lips to keep from laughing while he watched. You stopped and glared at him. “Why is it funny?”
His smile was sheepish. “I just never realized how stiff your hips move before. You’re like an ironing board.”
You gave him a pointed look and turned. “Welp, I tried.
Shownu rushed to your side and pushed you back to the little practice area you were using in the living room. “I’m sorry, you’re right. I asked to teach you. Maybe you can just practice it later. Anyway, leftside roll 2 3 4, right side 6 7 8.”
He went over the second 8-count a few times until it felt more natural.
“So, the next step might be a little tricky, because you have to remember which foot to start on.”
“Oh boy.”
“I’ll go slow. Each step is 1 count. So step front with your left, then right. Back left, back right,”
“Are you kidding? This is the easiest step so far. Why didn’t we start with this?”
“Because the next 4 counts you start by stepping right, left, back right, back left.”
“I can do it!”
He gave you a small smile. As you did it with him a couple times he nodded, happily impressed with your understanding. “Now, you’re supposed to be dancing while doing it, so you can try to shake while stepping.”
You looked square in his eyes. “No.”
He bit back his laugh again, but moved on to the next step.
“We’re going to break the last 8 counts into 4 4 because they’re different movements.”
“Sir, yes sir!” you saluted.
Shownu rolled his eyes again and grabbed your hips. “You want to turn facing left in 2 counts. Then kind of march in place 4 times in the last 2 counts.”
“Can you show me first?”
He let go of you and demonstrated.
It didn’t look as bad as you thought so you tried it.
“You did it!” he high-fived you and you grinned proudly back at him. “I might of lied to you earlier,” he said slowly.
“Why.”
“The next 4 count is actually the easiest. You just slowly back up. That’s it.”
You playfully slapped his arm but did the step with him.
“Ready to try it all together?”
You closed your eyes and exhaled. “Let’s rock this bitch.”
Shownu’s head shook with laughter but he started the music. Before it was time to start he counted down, “5 6 7 jump!”
You did 2 successful rounds of the Wobble then decided it was enough. Shownu clearly wanted to do more but didn’t press you and sat next to you on the couch.
“See, it wasn’t so bad.”
“That’s not what you said about my hips.”
He pulled his lips in to keep from smiling. “We can always practice your hip movements.”
Hey! I'm glad I'm not too late for your drabble game, how have you been?? I still don't have everything figured out but is getting better, anyway could I get a friends to lovers Au, fluff and as always with Shownu (is it boring that I always ask for him?😅) I'm glad to see you back ~💙Farfalla 🦋
This is the third time Hyunwoo's changed his hand positions. First it was both on the steering wheel. Then, one hand on the steering wheel and one on his thigh, where his fingers drum along with the song on the radio. Not that hand is on the gearstick, alternatively clenching and relaxing.
You think you know what he wants, but you're not sure you're there for him to want that yet. Which is of course ridiculous on so many levels.
The two of you have been friends for forever. You've passed out on each other's couches more times than you can count and showing up announced isn't remotely unusual. You know weird little things about each other too, like how Hyunwoo thinks his best side is his left when his whole face is a gift to humankind or that weird sleeping habit of yours he promised to never speak of. He even passes you the remote with his feet when he's feeling lazy for Pete's sake. Being around each other is something comfortable, familiar.
Except dating each other is not quite so familiar.
Are you both clearly interested? Most definitely.
You wouldn't have agreed to go on this date otherwise. The idea of being in a romantic relationship with Hyunwoo had your heart racing as soon as he timidly, but straightforwardly confessed having feelings and proposed a date. It was like a dream, and you'd almost pinched yourself. But it wasn't a dream; you were dating Son Hyunwoo.
Are you both too awkward for your own good? Most definitely.
Hyunwoo had been a perfect gentleman, opening doors, paying for everything despite your protests. He'd even brought you flowers like an old time romance. But where before there'd been an easy flow between you, whether speaking or silent, there's now an uneasiness like you're suddenly two strangers.
You hate it.
You want to be like you were, but more. It's daunting for sure. One of you is going to have to take that jump to push you both forward if this is going to happen. If neither of you find that spark of courage....
Looking out the car window, you panic, realizing you're only a few streets away from your apartment. Your eyes shoot to Hyunwoo's hand.
Before you can overthink it, you put your hand over his. You can feel his entire arm tense up. For a split second, you're scared you misread him.
Face burning, you scramble for a way to explain it away.
Suddenly, you feel Hyunwoo's hand turn. His palm kisses yours, his fingers interlocking with yours. A glance shows his eyes still safely on the road. However, a smile now tugs the corners of his lips upwards. A genuine smile.
Your face heats up again, this time for an entirely different reason.
By the time Hyunwoo pulls into a parking space, you're about 1% certain you'll be able to let go of his hand when you have to. 1% because the other 99% never wants to let go.
Hyunwoo's voice saying your name breaks you from your wondering daze. You freeze when you realize his seatbelt is unbuckled and he's leaning into the space between the two seats.
"Sorry, what?" Your whole mouth feels dry. You lick your lips, acutely aware when Hyunwoo's eyes follow the motion.
He stares at your mouth too long for you to not guess what he's about to say. Still, the way he doesn't move any further, just forces his gaze back up to yours and quietly asks, "Would it be okay if I kiss you?"
You can only nod, not trusting yourself to do much else with your heart pounding in your ears.
Hyunwoo closes the gap, his eyes staying open until the last possible second.
Your lips meet, his incredibly soft and warm.
It's just a simple kiss. A press of lips, undemanding and unhurried. That's it.
It's perfect.
For Farfalla
Hello, sweatpea! I was just thinking of you the other day! I'm so glad to hear you're on the road to better things! I will never tire of Hyunwoo, especially now that he's enlisted, so request him anytime we have a game! <3 Hope you have an awesome day!
Req: Hi! I was wondering if I could please request Shownu for the trope prompts? Maybe #5 CEO! AU #5 Unrequited Love and #26 "Sometimes , I sit in bed and wonder what would happen if things were different". Thank you so much!!
Pairing: Ceo! Shownu x Secretary GN! Reader
Genre: Angst
Summary: Loving someone who isn’t yours is something that hurts the most. You can’t force them to love you back and you love them too much to hurt them for it. So instead you’re left alone to watch them being happy without you, even when you can’t be happy without them.
Warnings: Unrequited love...that’s about it. It’s pretty sfw just angsty?

You had always been a great secretary for Hyunwoo...perhaps almost too good of one. When you went on vacation he never could be satisfied in anyone else’s work in that position. Things just never went as smoothly as when you were around. Or is that just the excuse he told himself to not face the fact that he was hopelessly in love with you?
There was no denying it, he was sure even you could tell. Not that he ever did anything that would be inappropriate or make you uncomfortable, he wasn’t like that. In fact, the closest thing that he might have done is staring just slightly too long at your form in an outfit or two. Though even that he hadn’t intended to do, he was too gentlemanly. You just happened to be his kryptonite and if you were before him like that he’d get mesmerized and look any semblance of coherent thought before something snapped him back out of that trance.
Kihyun came into his office proving to be what snapped him out of it today, finally making him look away from the paper in his hands and hearing his friend sigh softly. The two young CEOs were probably the closest thing you could get to best friends in their world and knew his dilemma when it came to you.
"Sometimes, I sit in bed and wonder what would happen if things were different...if I had gotten to them before Changkyun had.” Hyunwoo shakes his head softly not even wanting to like about the man from HR who actually got to be by your side the same way he wanted to be.
Kihyun hums, taking his seat across from Hyunwoo, “What is it that happened with Y/N now?”
“They asked for time off...because of this.” Hyunwoo hands over the papers, the lump in his throat preventing him from being able to vocalize what it was.
“They’re getting married!...you’re not going to go are you?” He questions with a scoff looking at the included invitation, before softening as he notices Hyunwoo’s distressed features and lack of answer, “Why would you do that to yourself?”
“Because...I need closure Kihyun...and maybe seeing Y/N there that day will be it.” He shrugs, cutting Kihyun off before he can argue, “Come on let’s just go.”
Hyunwoo heads towards the door to leave with Kihyun, returning your gentle smile with a small fake one of his own. Handing you the paper approving your requested time off for the wedding and honeymoon wordlessly, not sure he could bring himself to speak to you right now.
Req: Sports!au (Shownu swimming & reader rugby). enemies to lovers #39 you confuse me with Shownu
Pairing: Hyunwoo x Gender Neutral! Reader
Genre: Angst, Fluff
Summary: You two were the pride and joy of your school. Still doesn’t mean you two had to get along, but maybe that’s exactly the reason that you would.
Warnings: I know nothing about rugby, so if something is in accurate...sorry. Partial nudity? (Shownu doesn’t wear much when swimming, but that’s it.), some angst, some arguing, swearing, in all pretty safe.
Note: I did do a little bit of rugby research to try and figure out what I was talking about for this, but I don’t know how well it worked...I just kind of laughed over the position name number 8 and got more confused after 20 minutes, so yeah...

Your school wasn’t necessarily known for its sports prodigies, well until more recently anyways. Having not one, but two teams leading the way as everyone in the country kept an eye on your school knowing those teams would be the ones to beat this year. The first being the team you were a part of, the rugby team. You were team captain and had managed to lead your team all the way to the championship semi-finals last year. Your team had been preparing for the next season ever since though and the improvement showed. The other team is your school’s swim team, led by Hyunwoo. Your school had lucked out on Hyunwoo’s arrival last year when he had moved to your area. Him being all that the swim team needed to give them that push to success.
You two were the talk of the school, the team captains everyone had their eyes on. You’d think being the popular sporty students would mean that the two of you got along, however that was nothing like reality. The two of you didn’t get along in the least. Maybe it was a competitive nature or the pressure always on the two of you, maybe it was the fact that you two had no personal life with everyone constantly pestering you about competitions and being the best. Or maybe it was simply due to the fact that you both knew what would happen if you were to get along…
Still, you found yourself at the next swim meet, like you had all the previous ones. Staying off to the side while watching the competition with mild interest. The part of you that loved sports admired what the swimmers did, yet it also wasn’t your sport, so things could distract you from the competition itself. Things such as Hyunwoo’s body to be specific. His toned figure on display at every competition and despite your differences, you’d be a liar and a fool if you didn’t admit he was a gorgeous man.
Looking around though you noticed that currently it was the women’s turn to compete and so Hyunwoo had yet to even show up. Something that you didn’t realize would happen right by you. Hyunwoo leaving the locker room to head towards the competition, but having to pass you to get there. Looking at you with furrowed brows, stopping when he reaches you.
“You know Y/N...you confuse me.” Hyunwoo hums softly, drawing your attention to him. You lean back against the wall, crossing your arms softly and noting that he was in his swim gear now, perfect chest on display. So he would be competing.
“And why is that Hyunwoo?” You inquire, keeping your voice down to not draw everyone’s attention to the private conversation of their two stars.
“Well we don’t necessarily get along...and yet you’re here at every meet. Why?” Hyunwoo questions stealing glances out at the competition and you take your chance to appreciate his form a bit more while he wasn’t looking.
“We might not get along, but in a way, we both do the same thing. I don’t have to like you to admire the effort and determination that you and your team put into being the best at swim meets. And besides that...the school is counting on the both of us, so I’m going to be here to support you guys. Despite what you and I think of each other.” You explain, causing Hyunwoo to raise a brow.
“Is this your way of saying you’re the bigger person here? Or trying to guilt me into saying you’re a good sport and coming to your games?” Hyunwoo’s tone almost mocks slightly, obviously not buying your act. Not that he had much reason to, even if you were being genuine.
“I don’t really give a fuck what you think Hyunwoo.” You hiss softly, voice harsher despite staying quite still, “ What you think doesn’t matter to me, I’ll do what I think is right no matter your opinion. Now shut up before you speak out of your ass again and go get your head in the match. Your team is waiting for their captain.”
Hyunwoo leaves hearing your soft huff, doing as you told and getting his head into the competition and leading his team onto another win. Even so, you chose not to hang out for the celebration...you came to show support, not to be there for Hyunwoo to gloat to later. Him looking up to watch you walk out behind most of the crowd and something hitting him. Making it up in his mind then that he’d show up at your next game.
It wasn’t exactly like the swim meet though, there was nowhere he could wait it out in hopes of getting a passing chance to talk...to apologize for what he did that day you were there to show support. So he sat himself down to watch the game and do the same for you. Slowly becoming more and more enthralled with watching you play, he realized it really wouldn’t be hard to develop the habit of coming to your games to cheer you on...not when it came so naturally to you.
Time got away from Hyunwoo however and a few months passed, yet he was at every game cheering you on. Something your friends had noticed and pointed out to you early on. Until one of them nudges you the day after a big game at practice.
“Your new fanboy is heading this way.” They whisper, laughing a little before running back onto the field. Leaving you to turn and find Hyunwoo walking over.
“Hyunwoo, I don’t have time for this today.” You sigh softly, too tired in the middle of practice to fight with the man coming over to you.
“Just hear me out please, I’m not here to fight...I just came to apologize.”Hyunwoo flushes a little and you find the sight somewhat endearing, “I was wrong that day...even though we haven’t really gotten along ever I was wrong to speak to you like that. I don’t know your reasons, and I don’t need to know them. You were there to support us and I was a dick...I’m sorry.”
His apology surprised you a little, it's not usually something you exchange, “It’s alright Hyunwoo, I’m sure I’ve done the same to you in the past too. We both can get a little heated at times. Thank you for apologizing though.” You smile at him, hoping to prevent an awkward silence to follow, “ So have you had fun at our games?”
Hyunwoo nods, beaming a little bit despite his blush deepening, “I have! They’re really fun to go to...though, maybe you’d like to help teach me a bit more about rugby?”
“Hyunwoo, are you...are you asking me on a date?” You ask, feeling your own face heat up when he nods shyly.
“Yeah...I guess I am. Though I can’t promise you it’ll put an end to all the competition between us...but a little friendly competition could keep things interesting, right?”
Hi can you do Shownu of Monsta X and the quote "Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength; loving someone deeply gives you courage " Lao Tzu? Thank you for doing this game 😁
This is it. They day you’ve been dreading for weeks.
Shownu convinced you to let him meet your family. You warned him it was a terrible idea. That your family were just the worst people he’d ever meet. He didn’t care. He wanted to know all of you, even the ugly parts he’d said. But you knew better. They’d be asinine as always when meeting him. It’s why you never introduced him to them before.
In fact, you couldn’t recall why you let him persuade you to meet them now. Distraction. There definitely had to be distraction. Maybe it was when he spoiled you with a delicious dinner he cooked all by himself. Or perhaps his shirt was missing when he talked you into this.
He rubs the back of your hand with his thumb as you pull the car up in front of the house. Your heart has been racing since last night with anxiety. You can only stare blankly out the window.
“Hey,” he speaks quietly. You can’t look at him. He says your name and squeezes your hand until you meet his gaze. “It’s going to be okay.”
“It’s not,” you whisper.
“I’m going to be right by your side the whole time. If it gets to be too much, we will leave and I will never bother you about your family ever again, okay?”
You wish he’d never bothered you with it to begin with, but it was hard to say no when he begged you with sweet mocha puppy eyes.
He gets out of the car and walks to your side to open the door for you. Shownu laces his fingers with yours and kisses your knuckles as he pulls you in the direction of the house.
You exhale deeply trying to calm your nerves. At least it’s better having to see your family when you can feel his warmth next to you.
You let him knock on the door. Your cousin opens it and you get so much satisfaction from how quickly her mouth drops upon seeing the tan god beside you.
He smiles confidently, also realizing your cousin is shocked. “Hi, I’m the new guy, Shownu.”
Your cousin is taking a long time to process.
“Can we come in?” You can’t hide your annoyance.
When they finally step aside and you go into the house, you feel so lucky to have Shownu. He wanted to do this because he loves you, and somehow it makes you love him more. Especially because the rest of the family are having similar reactions as your cousin, and it’s beautiful to show off what a catch your boyfriend is.
