Like you’re not awesome….tch. Luckily I know MANY amazing writers and I will hype them all up!!

Elvy @phantomofthehoepera (and his friend rat who I know less well) wrote a PotC Miami-verse fic featuring a butch Will which is INCREDIBLE and I wait with baited breath for the next chapter to be posted (for some reason tumblr won’t let me embed it el oh el so here’s the link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/57463222/chapters/146196136, and then also the amazing prequel https://archiveofourown.org/works/56966467/chapters/144860749.) Elvy also posted the unexpected resurrection of Amanda fisher which has been in progress for a minute but got completed this year and is an all time favorite for me!

@seagullcharmer told me all about their breath of the wild lorule AU which was AWESOME to hear about and see it begin to be published!! There’s also reunion which has a really fun POV and an exciting way of revealing more plot—I just loved reading how it unfolded!!

My close personal friend (who I will not put on blast on tumblr) also made some great work on her fantasy novels this year, and I hope that someday they’re published so that I can hawk them on every corner!!

Saint you’re off your rocker if you think I’m not gonna plug you too—I know you didn’t post this, but I was really taken by your nanago love spell fic. 3. What’s your favorite emotion to write? oooough probably like...banter? which isn't an emotion but in that wheelhouse of both annoyance/exasperation and fondness. i think it's fun when characters argue lightheartedly with each other! and also when they argue not so lightheartedly 8. Narrative or dialogue?  DIALOGUE ALL DA WAY....i love conversations they're so fun and they come so much more naturally to me and they are SUCH amazing ways to get to the real meat of a character--not in what they say but in how they say it 15. What is your favorite detail to include while writing? this one is hard...on an abstract level i like writing bits and pieces of info that have a solid character purpose behind them but from a character that is not the pov character (two other people sharing a knowing look that pov does NOT get, character trying very hard to dance around a subject). on a more concrete level i love describing inner emotions!! i like the challenge bc i find myself bored with them so often that i'm like okay how do i write this in a way that is not cliche and overdone to ME

🎀 what’s your FAVORITE thing you wrote/posted this year? probably scion or one of its associated side stories….im especially proud of my fic where natalia and tear seek the blessing of shadow, and my oc fic where aula gets some good advice from a fellow trans lady. Also I’m thrilled I finished chapter 8 of containment policy even though that won’t be getting published for….awhile

🔮 what are you hoping to write in the coming year? I really want to make some solid progress on progeny, which is my scion sequel, and containment policy chapter 9!! There’s also a really horny dofladile fic in the works that close to completion that I’m hoping I can wrap up in 2025

💌 did you receive any comments/reviews that stuck with you? I am AWFUL at remembering specific things like that but I will say I remember lots of wonderful kind comments from @seagullcharmer and @meanpajamas and others on scion that really made me smile!! I do love looking back on old comments and seeing what people thought. I should also point out honorary mention to @phantomofthehoepera bc even though this comment was not in 2024 it was ages ago I think constantly about “what if I blew up and when I blew up a tiny piece of fentanyl landed on a cop and he blew up too. What then”. Genuinely lives in my head CONSTANTLY one of these days I need to figure out what chapter that’s on so I can quick find it

8. Would you ever write a sequel or a second chapter to the one-shot?

I don't think I would! I might return to Alvida and Hancock and whatever they have going on, but I want free and alone, together to stand on its own. Tonally I think it works better without a second part!

11. What scene was hardest to write?

The ending...I didn't know what I wanted to do with them, and as much as I love a happily ever after, it just left a bad taste in my mouth given the themes of the story. I'm really happy with Alvida and Hancock heading back out to sea both together and separately with a promise of the future but needing to find themselves a little bit more in the meantime. But boy howdy it took awhile for me to get there!

13 (I'm assuming since there is no 23). What scene were you most excited about writing?

The conversation between the two of them where Alvida is talking about how Buggy liked her freckles....I've never been a huge Buggyhead but I am also obsessed with whatever he and Alvida had going on pre-divorce arc and also post-divorce arc. I thought it was a really simple way of showing what Alvida actually values in a partner, why his betrayal hurt so much, and how Hancock is different than him--how if Hancock had met Alvida when she was fat, she wouldn't have had the same reaction at all. Idk. Characters that are complicated!!!!

14. What scene is the most different to the original plan?

You're making me go into my Jimmy Neutron mind palace bc I um. Didn't plan any of it out. I had a rough idea in my head but nothing particularly concrete...I think what I wasn't expecting was how natural it felt for them to talk when they first meet in the the beauty section. It's different than other couples who banter, because Alvida is very defensive and Hancock is having a lesbian crisis, and it was just a lot of fun to explore that dynamic! I think it made the rest of the story feel more holistic but I wasn't expecting to write so much of it.

ough there are so many good colors...i tend to gravitate a lot towards pinks/reds and blues! lots of fun to be had there
