The room was silent. No one would have guessed that the happy firebreather would even think of committing such a crime. Especially to someone who they thought was his friend. The eyes switched between the red head and the brunette as one of them seemed to have struggled with coming up with a sentence.
“I...” Koichi started. “Hatori... I don’t... understand…” He couldn’t even look at the one he called his ‘best friend.’ Who would do such a thing? “You… Why..? Why?! What did you gain from that?! What could have driven you so much that you killed her?”
The firebreather stared at him before letting out a sigh. “Because I… loved Emi.” He uttered before glancing away. “I couldn’t take it… seeing you two together. Everyday… being happy with each other. It was sickening.” His voice seemed to have lowered down an octave. It was like it wasn’t even Hatori anymore. No one knew who this was.
“Last night, I went to her room to confront her… I told her about my feelings. She, of course, rejected me.” He muttered, closing his eyes, “When I asked her why… she stated because she loved Koichi…” He glanced away, “I… attacked her in a fit of rage. She was the first one… I ever held any feelings towards… and she just pushed me away… I… couldn’t take it anymore!” he yelled as he grip the bench a little.
After what seemed like hours, he finally calmed down, “but… in result to that, I betrayed my best friend. I thought I had so much to gain, but in the end, I’m losing everything and for what?” He laughed lightly, “A stupid little crush?” He pulled back before heading to the two big doors. “I deserve to die. I destroyed everything.” He gave a weak smile to Monobear, “What are you waiting for? Let’s get this over with.”
The bear laughed lightly as he stood up straight, “Before we lost track… we still need to have a vote.” The students stared at the buttons before making their selections. When all the votes were casted, the bear stood up again.
“You all win; Hatori Yoshida is found guilty of murdering Emi Matsumi.”
He let out a smile before laughing a bit. “I don’t know why I was expecting you to vote against me, Koichi. You made the right decision… I have no right to be angry at a time like this.” Koichi didn’t look up from the buttons that decided his friend’s fate. Hatori looked at Monobear, “Let’s get going. We all have better things to do.”
Monobear raised a baton and slammed it on the button.
GAME OVER
HATORI HAS BEEN FOUND GUILTY.
COMMENCING EXECUTION...
When the lights turned on, Hatori found himself suspended in the air on a large pole. He glanced below him, seeing a couple gigantic vegetables. As he looked up to see was what above him, he spotted some grilled pineapple and other meats before realizing where and what this was.
He heard a click before feeling the sensation of moving. He saw the ceiling then the floor, then the ceiling… then the floor. He was rotating. He sensed that something else was heating up… he could hear it booting. Where did he see this before? Oh, it was a—
HAWAIIAN BARBECUE
As he felt the room move faster, he gulped as he felt a sudden surroundment of heat around him. He rotated faster and faster, trying his best not to yell out in pain. This was what he deserved. He couldn’t let the others no about his regret.
Emi… what was he thinking? He should have known that he never had a chance with her… He betrayed himself, Emi, and most importantly… Koichi. They were best friends and had done so much and put up with a lot of scary stuff and other murders… but then he had gone and killed one of the most important thing in his life because of some petty emotion like love. How foolish… now he remembered why he hated feeling that emotion.
Now he was paying the price.
When the fire stopped, all that was left was the charred pole that had broken in half.
Everyone was silent before turning to walk out of the room.
The only two that were left were Chisana and Koichi who never had their eyes off the deathtrap. 】
